I think its a domination thing, like the TV remote control for men. I always noticed the men (who were also the family head) sat on the aisle end and the wife and kids on the inside. This kind of like shows who's the head. I on the other hand preferred for the longest time to sit more in and let the wife and kids sit nearer to the aisle end. It didn't mean my wife was now the head (I least I don't think so!), but I did this at first because I didn't want the brothers passing the mikes to notice that I didn't underline my study articles. Then I just got used to it.

Ozone-Good News / Bad News (for WTS)
by ISP inwednesday september 18, .
full coverage.
blair keeps up pressure on saddam.

The WTS will typically downplay mankind's ability to solve its problems. This tactic is obviously used to redirect the mind-controlled Dub to the Kingdom and how it alone can solve our problems. Not that the Kingdom won't mind you, but just goes to show people still can do good things if they want.

Gently Helping Someone to De-Tower
by Scully init looks like today is going to continue to be a day of surprises for me.. one of my daughter's classmates called earlier and said she wanted to go "trick or treating" with my children this hallowe'en.
normally, this wouldn't have surprised me, except that when we first met this family, it was on the little girl's birthday, and her mother made it very clear that they didn't observe birthdays because it was against their faith.
so anyway, i wanted to clarify with the mother today, because she had told me in the interim that they were jws, and i didn't want to cause any offense or do anything that would get the little girl in trouble later on when her mother found out.

Inactive.....but curious....
by ScoobySnax ini was just thinking after reading some of the posts, and wanted to ask you something..... do any of you feel, and i mean right in the back of your minds, that jws might still have the true faith (truth).
i've been inactive for a few years now and don't attend meetings at the kh, apart from the memorial, and occasional convention.
please don't shout me down, its just that to me, even though i've been out for a while and my reasons for "drifting" away were very painful to me, i don't feel as the majority do here.

Hi there ScoobySnax
I too for many years thought that the JW religion was the truth and by sticking with it I would be saved. But I alway had nagging thoughts at the back of my mind. Then one day I started doing some serious reseach into the Watchtower by reading non-Watchtower material (which is the only way it can be done). I recommend to you the following books:
-Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz (former Governing Body member)
-In Search of Christian Freedom (ibid)
-Gentile Times Reconsidered by C.O. Jonsson (former JW elder)Then I recommend you visit the following websites and dedicated at least 20-30 hours reading the various articles they have:
http://www.freeminds.org/
http://www.xjw.com/
http://www.jwfiles.com/
http://www.ajwrb.org/index.shtml
http://watchtower.observer.org/It will not be easy at first. But if you want to know the truth, take my recommendation. The JWs tell other they should examine their religion. JWs should also examine their own religion. Do you know that there is a reason why the Watchtower Society is terrified of former JWs such as Raymond Franz, C.O. Jonsson and many others? Afterall, if it is the truth, it can stand any "attack". But if its false, it will crumble like a house of cards. Do it and let me know what you find.

Question about Detective on Panorama
by Fatal Error ina local elder stated today that the detective that appeared on the panorama program (the one who was bemoaning the witnesses lack of cooperation) has recently been found in possession of peadophiliac (sp??
) material, taken off duty and is now on trial.
is this true???

Are there two witnesses to this alleged posession of child porn? If not, the elder should not have spoken.

JW`s and Cottages
by Beans inso how many of you have or had cottages as dubs?
now do any of you recall any families having them in your hall?.
now if so did these families retreat to these locations during the summer months?.
-
stichione
To my knowledge, only one Dub family had a cottage in my circuit. Generally, owning a cottage was not considered Christian since you would retreat there on weekends, which meant not going in door-to-door service and possibly missing the Sunday meeting. We generally judged harshly any who owned such property.
