Oops- I should have put that in there about the Onion. I guess I'm just too familiar with it and it's humor- I figured others knew what it was too.
Satire indeed.

VATICAN CITYCalling forgiveness "one of the highest virtues taught to us by Jesus," Pope John Paul II issued a papal decree Monday absolving priest-molested children of all sin.
"Though grave and terrible sins have been committed, our Lord teaches us to turn the other cheek and forgive those who sin against us," said the pope, reading a prepared statement from a balcony overlooking St. Peter's Square. "That is why, despite the terrible wrongs they have committed, the church must move on and forgive these children for their misdeeds."
"As Jesus said, 'Let he who is without sin cast the first stone,'" the pope continued. "We must send a clear message to these hundredsperhaps thousandsof children whose sinful ways have tempted so many of the church's servants into lustful violation of their holy vows of celibacy. The church forgives them for their transgressions and looks upon them not with intolerance, but compassion."
The papal announcement arrives in response to public outcry over the sex scandal sweeping the Catholic church in the U.S. Though official church doctrine condemns such transgressions, the pope's decision, observers say, is intended to demonstrate the church's willingness to put the scandal behind it and restore the public trust.
"By forgiving these children, primarily churchgoing boys between the ages of 5 and 15, the pope has shown true Christian kindness," said Father Thomas O'Malley, a member of the New York archdiocese and one of the many priests implicated in charges of sexual activity with minors. "The pope is saying that, in their own way, these sinful youths are victims, too. Through their absolution, he sends the important message that empathy, contrary to what naysayers and critics in the secular media would have us believe, does have a place in modern Catholicism."
For Catholics waiting for the pope to break his long silence on the scandal, the sweeping, decisive nature of his response has come as welcome relief.
"The pope has shown great love and compassion, much as Jesus did when he ministered to tax collectors and whores," said Cardinal Bernard Law of Boston. "Despite all they have done to jeopardize the careers of so many prieststo say nothing of imperiling the priests' immortal soulsthe church embraces these underaged seducers and tempters with open arms. The pope's words and actions prove that the church is willing to put an end to the suffering and let the healing begin."
The mass absolution is being hailed by church scholars as one of the Vatican's most progressive acts since the Second Vatican Council in 1962.
"One cannot overstate the break from tradition this represents," said lay administrator Bruce McConnachie of the Los Angeles archdiocese. "After all, under church doctrine, the act of seducing a priest is considered a grave sin against the laws of God, punishable by condemnation to Hell for all eternity. But the pope has put all of that aside. He has let bygones be bygones. For this, all of those misbehaving, sexy little guys should feel grateful. By showing such willingness to forgive and forget, the pope has sent a clear message: Even though these boys have done much to undermine and subvert the priestly vows of celibacy, they are still deserving of God's love."
Margaret Leahy, 39, a Somerville, MA, homemaker and mother of one of the alleged seducers, expressed relief over the pope's announcement.
"For months, I feared that my boyand the dozens of others who committed sinful acts with Father Halloran before he was moved to the safety of another parish to protect him from further temptation at their pre-pubescent handswas going to Hell for what he'd done," Leahy said. "It's the worst feeling a mother can know. But thanks to the forgiveness of the pope, my long nightmare is finally over. He was just a boy of 8 at the time. He didn't know any better. Thank you, your Holiness, for giving my poor little Timothy a second chance at redemption."
However, not everyone within the Catholic church is so supportive of the pope's actions.
"What kind of a message is the pope sending today's children? That it's okay to seduce priests?" said one concerned Baltimore priest who asked to remain anonymous due to a pending court case. "With the pope's announcement, the church is essentially telling its youngest members, 'Go ahead and let Father So-And-So reach into your swim trunks at the church-youth-group pool party. It's okay, the pope will forgive you in the end.' Without fear of eternal damnation, how are these provocative young lotharios ever going to learn?"
"As the creep of secular humanism continues to chip away at our most sacred institutions, the Vatican has established a dangerous precedent," the priest continued. "We look to the church's authority for justice and righteousness, not politically convenient solutions that maintain the status quo. These nubile sinners should be held accountable for the damage they've done."

my daughter was on my pc and i was still signed into my im.
i was trying to take a nap.
anyway, a fellow member of this board ..who shall remain nameless signed in on im and my daughter told them i was napping, this then made me a prime target for a prank..
For April Fool's Day many years ago I called the workplace of a male friend of mine and spoke to the receptionist. I left a message for him from Mrs. "So and So" from "The Local School of Ballet" and to let him know that I was ill and that his ballet lessons were cancelled for the evening but to keep practicing and I'd see him in class the next week.
The receptionist announced the message over the PA system to 150 employees.
Oh that was fun!

hello watchtower monitors and people of the board....here's the game.. somewhere, in the united states, there is going to be an apostate showing up at one of your district assemblies, he will be sporting a rainbow wig and a john 3:16 sign.
inside the convention.. now now, before apologists and dissents come my way.....i got a protest permit to be on said premis, and also, once i wear the wig and show the sign....as soon as they tell me to leave, i will comply...therefore i cant go to jail(saaay all you want, i already have an "ace up the sleeve" on this, so guess what?
you're wrong if you even think otherwise hehheheheheh).

many on this forum criticize elders as being incompetent.
i've know a few myself, but you must agree that there are also very good elders also.. well, here is a case and i would like to know what you would do if you were an elder.. a fourteen (14) year old male has sex with a twelve (12) year old female.
the female confesses to her parents and the parents report to the elders.
Matrix:
Interesting that you should use this red herring example. It is quite evident that many, many Elders can't properly handle the cases where the adults are molesting the children! I'm sure those same Elders wouldn't have a clue what to do in the case of two minors. But that is the point isn't it? Ignore and confuse the issue in front of you by bringing up a different one. It's called "gaslighting" and it still doesn't solve a very real problem-in either area.
And we all have heard what the response is when Elders call the legal department for "direction". "Don't get yourself in a jamb" If the legal department isn't going to direct the turning in of an adult in to the authorities in a state where it is required by law; why would anyone think the instructions would be any different if it were minors involved? We all heard the tape of how the WTS legal department handles calls about this.
You may be interested in confusing the issue here but I can assure you-from what I've experienced- you'll confuse NOONE here.
"Spiritual Leaders?" There is a huge difference between leading and controlling.

although i've never been a jw; i had an experience with someone dear to me who is.
that sent me in search of knowledge about it, which brought me here.
i understand the cyber community.

I understand the cyber community. I am a moderator on a trauma support board. That said, I need to say a big THANK YOU!! What I found here has touched me. I found a group of very insightful, loving people who were thrown together through a common demoninater (or was that "dominator")
My hat is off to you all!!!! I've visited the writings you have all gathered from research or from your soul. The dedication in you all shines through!!! I've spent time in your chat room and found great debate and very interesting conversation. There I also found some fun debauchery and silliness mixed in with some really whacky and fun people!!!
Most of the people I've read and who I have talked to, spent many many years in this JW way of life.
The optimism and sincere love and compassion that eminates from all of you (even when you are really pissed at one another) is a huge thing to have. It will serve you all well.
Thank you for what you all have taught me and shared with me.
Much respect and admiration!!!

what is the key to leaving the witnesses?
seeing that there is no real difference between them as a group and any other religious group.. they claim difference and preach difference, but they do not live and practice difference.. oh yes, they will tell you, we don't vote, we don't do this, we don't do that, but get to know them as people and you find out they have political leanings and they pretty much live just like everyone else.. so, basically, their claim to being god's chosen people is just that, their claim.
they have no proof to back it up.
Okay, I'm new to this stuff and never been JW so bear with me. They aren't supposed to be "worldy" and they are supposed to remain neutral in governmental issues etc. Do I have it right? Okay, assuming that I do. Then how is it possible for some of them to make a living working for the city, village, state or any government entity?
Are the rules "bent" so they may hold these positions? And if they are-doesn't that make the rule moot? And I'm not talking about necessarily running for Congress here. You could be a data entry operator for the state you live in and you are doing the work of the state! And most often the pay and benefits for these types of positions are great! The pensions for many of them are something sought after also.
So, shouldn't they all resign their positions in these entities or anything associated with them-the ancillary businesses as well? If someone were on a road crew subcontracted by the state-they are STILL doing the work of the state? If someone is working working for government; whether it is local, state or national; they are under the leadership, thus, the agenda of whoever is in power in that government. Aren't they then carrying out the work of whatever the political aims are of those in "power" in that government?
What is up with that?
I read a thread about "holding their feet to the fire" and I'm all for it. You want to be JW? You want to believe this crap? Go ahead. But then step down from that nice position you have with the state and give up that pension you have coming. (And by the way-why would it matter to you anyway-aren't you going to be dead by then anyway?) And worldly? Then live it. If you want to do this then live by it to the letter. Don't be quoting your scripturebabble to me and then go get on your Harley Davidson and drive off to have some fun-THAT is worldly from what I can read. Best sell that bike and go back and read your Watchtower!
Sorry I blew up. I just cannot believe this stuff!!!
xenawarrior-doing some saber-rattling!
i have been struggling ... i mean really struggling.
i feel a moral obligation to come forward and publicly support the work that bill, barbara and the pandelo's are doing.
i have first hand knowledge that these things that they are saying are true.
(((((((((((((Bobsgirl)))))))))))))))
This is my first post. I am not nor ever was JW but I have been immersing myself in the knowledge of this cult for weeks now.
I have to tell you that what you did is one of the most courageous things I have seen in a long long time! My hat is off to you!!
You seem to have a very strong family and it is evidenced by the courage you show now. I am praying that your family bond transcends the hateful "rules" of this organization.
I don't know if there is any history of df'ng in your immediate family but if there hasn't been, maybe your family will realize that what you endured back then and how it affected you is what is important here- as is change in this awful organization.
In that moment of decision-our destiny is shaped. Your courage may lend courage to someone else who is struggling in the same way and they will speak out as well and so on... The louder the voice, the more exposure-the more effect it will have. Your choice may have saved a child somewhere.
God Bless you!!!!! What you you have done is HUGE!!!!
