In reading thru this thread it appears to me that Merry is still looking, questioning and seeking. She hasn't shut down any questions but has been open to them...hence she is continuing to push past her limits.

by Merry Magdalene inwho is merry?
i was born in 1965, the same year that malcolm x was assassinated.
my father had committed suicide a few months into my mother's pregnancy so we lived with her parents until she married again when i was about 18 months old.

Everyone is limited in their thinking one way or another. You can either accept those limits and defend them to the death or push past them. Doesn't mean you have to accept everything you find but at least you accept or reject with knowledge and continue to move forward.
interesting thread Merry

CANCER - AND THE DANGERS OF ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE!

i've thought long and hard before writing this - which came about after linda (fullofdoubtnow), who is suffering from pancreatic cancer, was recommended alternative treatments to mainstream medicine.
i believe i am in a strong position to know just how effective many (most/all?

I applaud and appreciate your writing this Dansk.
My mom tried both alternative and traditional medicine to cure her cancer. Traditional first and then when they no longer gave her hope she tried alternative. Whether or not using alternative methods extended her life I don't know. It didn't cure her though, that much I do know. I don't blame them just as I don't blame traditional methods for her death because death unfortunately is unavoidable. They can't save everyone they can only do their best.
I'm really looking forward to seeing you again soon Dansk, hopefully this summer.

Night Rider
by LittleToe inwell that was an interesting journey!
i just got home after riding home from a friend's house, where i'd been helping them with a little decorating.
it is a clear and beautiful night, so i thought i would open her up a little, but neglected to look at the speedo.... ...until i hit a short piece of undulating piece of road and found the front wheel wobbling.

Check out this hypocrital conduct
by avidbiblereader inlast night was my oldest daughters birthday (22), we went out for supper with some friends and family, we went into the texas roadhouse where she serves bar and waits tables, they have this one thing they do for birthdays where all the servers sing, yell and clap, they also ask you to "saddle up" which means to sit on a saddle they bring out on wheels as they all yell and howler, real fun, though!.
well sitting behind us is a whole table of witness from my sister hall that i use to go to, mother with three grown kids (25, 22, 21) and their spouses, they watched and didn't say a word to me and wouldn't even make eye contact with me, oooh i am the bogey man.. well guess what they did after we left, they didn't know my daughter didn't leave yet.
saddled up two of their own, clapped and sang birthday songs..

I actually think that's pretty good news. The more Witnesses that feel free to lead "double lives" [JW-speak], the better.
I agree. Who knows what was going thru their minds when they saw you....

Is it wrong?
by Frannie Banannie inis it wrong to give people hope when they've been diagnosed with an illness that can lead to much pain and death if not treated successfully?.
i ask this because i just got a pm from an angry poster over my posting the following link and info on an antibiotic that bbc carried the news in regard to and was being researched by camcer research uk: http://www.rense.com/general58/anti.htm.
also, i noticed that mary replied with this link to yet another site that showed a study at a university in canada had turned up another cheap, safe drug that kills cancer cells: http://www.wanderings.net/notebook/main/cheapsafedrugkillsmostcancers.

I think Derek had an issue mainly with it being called a "cancer cure" when it hasn't been proven to be that. It's a valid concern.
My mother died from cancer and tried both traditional and alternative medical treatments so I see merit in both personally. Despite the fact that neither were able to cure her.
