Please post all the little things that make no sense about the JWs

i want to collect a bunch of things that i can use to help my son see that the wbts and being a jw makes no sense.. i have a few in mind already.

they have to be things that might matter to a teenager, so doctrine will probably be out!.

(if you have read my last post you will see why).

sports / teams - a no-no for JW children

contradiction - JW dads spend hours watching competitive sports on TV - most will attend events - they all have their favourite team - our D.O used to make unabashed allusion to his favourite in Ass talks.......but the WT forbids kids participation

I would point out the real reason is evidently not the competition that the WT wants to avoid. If so it would be deemed a sin to be a spectator or to root for a particular team. What they really want to avoid is a JW kid becoming tight with worldlies (and discovering great friendships outside of the cult)

Working on the kids...not at ease.

sometimes i feel like i am going to lose the 'battle' for my kids.

it's hard when you only get to see them every second weekend and my boy even less now that he has his drivers licence...mates are more important than seeing dad you know.. daughter is the deeper thinking one i think.

i asked her who's message is this to which she made a guess at the witnesses.

Now why would the WT not ask former elders the 3rd question?

in chapter 3 of ks-10, paragraph 13 (page 35), the wt corp provides the precise questions that are to be asked aspiring elders before announcing their appointment.

there are only 2 for qualifying brothers who have served previously.

brothers not having served before must be asked a 3rd.. .

I don't believe they're worried about the victims

They're worried about the perpetrators wearing their 'elder's badge.

I believe they need to ask the question to newbies for the following reason:

If the brother answers "Yes I've molested someone." He doesn't become a legal liability for the WT because they will certainly not give him the 'clergy privilege'. If they are in a state that requires reporting all they will say is "Go to the authorities so we won't be obligated to be the ones to report you"

If the newby answers "No" and there is abuse later on when he has the WT's 'clergy privilege' they will be able to say, " We are very concerned about this growing problem in today's society. Before this person received his elder's status he was questionned on the subject and he assured us he had never been involved in abuse. We are as shocked and dismayed as you all are by the recent allegations against this individual. "

I believe the question is not to be asked of former elders in case they answer "Yes, I was". Let's just call it opening up a serious "can of worms". The WT immediately puts itself in a position like the Catholic Church knowing one of it's members was a molester while he served on their 'clergy class' It is now a major problem because they KNOW.

this morning i was trying to think of what you used to call that that method of field service were we bounced all over the the territory map hitting calls that were distanced far apart to waste time.

there was a funny term you called it at the kh but i can't remember.. i'm posting this instead of private message because someone else may know.. .

To be clear, brothers having served in the past, are not to be asked if they were ever involved in pedophilia. Does that mean the WT believes it can take for granted that a brother who’s has already served could never have been involved in child abuse?

I think it’s just the opposite. And I’m convinced this directive has everything to do with accountability, liability, ass-covering and don’t ask…don’t tell.

For anyone who is still trying to believe there are no child abusers among the JW clergy-class, I think this paragraph underlines how big the legal problem of pedophile servants has to be for the WT.

My Dad's passing

quite a while ago i wrote about my dad who has been living with prostate cancer for 13 years with secondry bone cancer for the last 2 years.

we all thought he was going to leave us back in april when he had a bad chest infection.

i was talking about wanting to be able to say some words at his funeral.

It was really nice for you all to have been with your father in his last breaths, loving and reassuring him. Your mother will now need a lot of support. I'm glad to hear you are there for her and she appreciates your help and love. It's a difficult time to go through

Son asked today

he then asked about my family.

he asked if that was because my mom is no longer a jw.

Good job mom. Keep up the good work and I think your son will do just fine.

I believe the GB talks do more harm than good. It sure was our case.

Among other GB memorable talks, I remember one that went way overtime and I mean way, way.

I had just had an assembly part and been told in no uncertain terms by the D.O and C.O if I went overtime I would be signalled to get off the stage immediately and I could be sure it would be my last assembly talk.

I was also looking after the Theocratic school and the guidebook clearly said going overtime was an evident lack of respect for your audience.

So you can imagine my thoughts on the last assembly day, during one of the last talks, watching the GBM going on and on like a Duracell Bunny.

strange comment from elder at the meeting today

todays watchtower was especially nauseating but during the study one of them made the comment concerning the big a " jehovahs timetable is not contingent on all nations being saturated by the good news".

the study conductor reafirmed his point and then continued.. wait a fuggin minute!

there are 1.4 billion chinese on the earth and only 40 million profess christianity.

Boyzone I think you got it exactly right.

Before the JW's had to help the angels separate the sheep and goats. Hadda get it DONE!!...because one day soon they would have to preach that it was just too late to wake up....the door had been closed. And then the end would come.

Now Jehovah's going to look after it all, later on.

This way the G.B. can get rid of their staff, sell off the buildings and wait for the big A, no questions asked. The dubs get the message that the dreaded service is no longer urgent....

There are going to be a lot of irregular and inactive J-dubs.
