Dear Xandit,
Welcome to the wonderful world of the braindead!! Thanks for your comment - and welcome. As at any forum, some days are better than others.

all is not well with the wts.
the elders are arrogant jerks, the gb has lost its grasp of reality, and the congregation publishers are right out of the stepford wives.. on the other hand, the big bad internet has arrived as our technological savior.
the free flow of information is the truth that sets us free.. everything we could possibly want to know is there.

took the laptop to bookstudy this week so we could check out the site together.
our good brother martini has been posting for some time and has been telling us about this web site where he can say the most outrageous things and people will just basically nod their heads in agreement and say right on, brother.. like once he said, i prefer to do it (preaching) with sporadic and extemporaneous praise in deed, word, poetry and song.
it was totally tongue-in-cheek, but nobody picked up on it.
Frenchy, do you really have an ignore button? If so, share with us so we can leave the dirt behind.
a few months ago during the elders' meeting with the c.o.
i could not help but express myself to him when the subject of meeting attendance came up.
now this is a nice guy as far as c.o.
A retirement plan? College education? Not in this lifetime. My husband and I have come to the conclusion that we'll be working an extremely long time.
But not as long as Ed Dunlap, who, according to Ray Franz, when he was disfellowshipped and "deported" from Bethel, started hanging wallpaper at the age of 73. I do my own wallpapering, and am much younger. My sympathy goes out to that old man - he didn't deserve his punishment - he basically was doing the same as us, speaking as he thought.
I suspect, as we age, we'll still being doing manual labor, because that's all we've been taught to do. Don't get me wrong, we make an ok living, we'll just have to do it until we die.
A friend of mine is a college graduate (before becoming a witness). She cleans houses now. Two young black sisters in our cong. graduated high honors in high school, teachers assured them of full scholorships (my kids knew them well), they turned them down. Both women married straight out of high school, have two kids each, live in trailers, and work nights at the mall as clerks 10 years later.
But they try their best to get to the meetings.
don't make me beg!
i am in need of a poetry fix!!.
it's going on a week now since eve's choice.
Thank you, 7 - where's the new one? Surely, Frenchy wouldn't allow the women - and secure men - not to grow in their appreciation of poetry?
It's so much more fun than arguing - which is what we've been doing for a week. Have you noticed?
Well, if we don't get poetry, then we'll have to appreciate my quotes:
"Southern (American) literature can be summed up in these words: "On the night the hogs ate Willy, Mama died when she heard what Daddy did to sister." Pat Conroy
Now, really, Frenchy, do you want me to continue with my famous literary quotes? Come on, don't hold out on us.......
for anyone who's ever written something of a private nature or asked clarification on certain beliefs have you ever had the unfortunate experience of the elders calling you in the back room or a sheperding call ?.
the reason i bring this out is that newer brothers or sisters don't know that everytime you write the society the society sends a copy of your letter to your local cong.
elders.
Go Big Red!!!!! (That's a college football slogan and has nothing to do with your size!!!!)
There are experiences on the web about persons who have obtained lawyers and lawsuits against the Society. Have big bucks and a mean lawyer on your side - you'll need it.
One experience is of a young man molested by a brother (elders knew he was a molester) in Atlanta. Landed in the courts in 1999. The young man lost. Part of the court decision can be found at Jehovahs Witnesses United or Beyond Jehovah's Witnesses. (There are so many JW sites!) It's listed on title page under court cases.
There are many other cases I've seen - almost all individuals who are listed have lost. Now, Friend might counter with some who have won - but I don't think so. If you had won a case against an organization - don't you think you would talk about it (unless silence was part of the settlement conditions)?
We all have marveled at how the Society's Legal Dept. have fought for the freedom of Jehovah's Witnesses. Domestic, foreign, blood, etc. - they are nearly fanatical in upholding their rights and righteousness. However, if you ever have the misfortune of having their Legal Dept. turn their attention to you....they are attorneys - and their position is to protect the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, in my opinion. I know.
Don't let Friend rattle you. BTW, your arguments are getting lengthier and better, and he said that was his aim, just to make us better!
On the point as to when someone writes the Society, "do you want an answer or not?" That is the question. Well, obviously, if I had wanted my Presiding Overseer knocking on my door, I would have poured out my situation with him, now wouldn't I.
But, no, I wanted my beloved Society to respond to me. I didn't mind the Circuit Overseer, he's a "company man" but I appreciated his insight as to the stupidity of some elders' actions. So, Friend is right about the CO responding for the Society. But I, as a wounded mother, did not want to hear further from my PO - naturally, I had already talked to him, as I had been taught.
I did not want him at my house, I had not invited him, but out of courtesy, I had no choice but to let him in.
in the supreme court of the united states, october tenth, 1988, case no.
88-1374, filed on june 22, 1988, clerk joseph f. spanol, jr.. on that date and file number, the attoreny james m. mccabe, and donald t. ridley, 25 colombia heights, brooklyn, ny 11251 (718)606-4993, attorneys for amicus curiae, watchtower bible and tract society of new york, inc. filed a "friends of the court" brief on the behalf of the famous preacher, jimmy swaggart and his ministries.. why would the watchtower society, direct channel for jehovah's holy spirt, which also godly hates babylon the great, which also christiandom is the largest part, go into the supreme court of the united states and file a legal brief to help jimmy swaggart's ministries in his trial which was case no.
88-1374: jimmy swaggart ministries, appelant vs. board of equalization of california, appeller?.
Dear Friend,
Each and every (qualifed statement) time that I read your posts, I am amazed at how high your standards are and that you have given of yourself to correct our thoughts and discussions to adjust our thinking to your standards.
Have you answered my questions? They are relative. What is your background that you take condescending key strokes to us? We consider ourselves to be equals here, except you, Lars & his friends.
Speaking for myself, I'm not looking for an enlighten teacher. Discussion - yes; viewpoints - yes. To be readjusted to your thoughts - no.
Is that closed minded - perhaps. But if I wanted my thinking readjusted back to the WTBTS, I would just read my Watchtowers - I come here for breathing space.
It does seem, in my opinion, that your posts antagonize almost everyone responded to. It does seem, in my opinion, that is your intention. Do you, perhaps, not wish a small group of people to speak openly about doubting the WTBTS?
I've read posts of your on Witnet - same name - same tone. However, you've gone a step further with the educated, polite, insults when posting to us. If we don't fit your agenda, would your time, perhaps, be better spent at a forum of strong witnesses like yourself?
ok, it seems like we need to start setting up some rules and regulations as 'common sense' doesn;t seem to work for everyone.. rule 1. no personal attacks / insults.
feel free to submit any rules (or guidelines) that you think would help.
Dear Friend,
I'm sorry if I've offended you with my curiosity. I've been sick and not looked for a day or so.
We have several new braindeads here!
i have pioneered for over four years.
i have three children and a wife who at times has severe back problems.
i have worked two jobs just to stay ahead of the bills and provide for my family.
SC, you actually paid for your wife to get a back massage? Oh, yeah, you live in southern Cal, don't you. I don't think that enlightened attitude will go far in the KH or with men in general.
Great attitude - she'll keep you forever!!
just want to say how much i appreciate this site.
im addicted- i just cant help coming back every day.. ive been telling all my friends- this is the spinal tap of witness sites, the monty python for brothers.
so who are you guys really, bethelites preparing for the annual talent show, or do you actually work with the writing committee?.
Wow, Simon, you're so polite, particularily in view of the question as to whether this boy's testicles have descended yet. I don't mean to be impolite, but if he had any kind of social life, other than his hand, he wouldn't be here bothering us, would he?
since the wt organization claims "apostolic succession" who was it that passed the torch of gods spirit to c.t.russel when he founded the.
organization?
what denomination or faith?
Dear Friend,
I'm still on my work computer, so I don't have Society material here with me. From your writing, it's would seem obvious you've been door to door decades like most of us here.
One of the biggest - and most feared objections - is: "You all think you're the only ones going to Heaven, don't you? You think all others are wrong and going to Hell (or die, etc.), don't you?"
If we're perfectly honest, we will say: "Yes, we are the only ones on the earth with God's approval, thus, a small group of us are the only ones going to Heaven, the Watchtower Society is God's only way of communicating with men, and you are going to be killed by God when this generation ends if you do not become one on Jehovah's Witnesses. But God may still kill you as He is the final Judge."
You did say in an earlier post that "we do not teach that salvation, (or not) of any individual is determined by us. Rather, we teach that only God through His son will make that judgement."
True statement.
But what judgement can God through His son come to about people at Armageddon who have been given the message? We are taught they will be killed by God if they do not respond to the message and come to Him. And how can people come to Jehovah? By becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses, because that is God's only channel with mankind.
However, it is true, that in the end, we might still be found disapproved and be killed. Thus, truly stated by you, Jehovah is the final judge of us.
In other words, if a person is not one of Jehovah's Witnesses (and not dysfunctional of some sort) at Armageddon, he will be killed by God. If a person is one of Jehovah's Witnesses, he's got a better chance at not being killed by God. Ultimately, it is up to God who He kills.
Wow, what we teach about God.
