  HELP! Elder bombarded me with scripture...& I don't know what to do.

  i have been lurking on this site for many years.

  i just recently had a run in with an elder, have not seen him in a few years.

  So a soldier in combat can send his official issue GI tee shirts in to be monogrammed with the MU symbols!

  That must be why the dubs had to add their own magik cymbal, the purple jw.org logo. Wonder if they'll be adding it to undies...

  I Was Asked To Perform A Marriage Ceremony But Don't Know I'm Qualified

  my girlfriend's daughter and her fiancee asked me to marry them last night.

  they live in connecticut and will be married in new york.

  i felt honored that i was asked but i don't think i can do it because i am not a clergyman or minister and my u derstanding is that only clergy or judges and lawyers and justice of the peace can perform a wedding ceremony and marry a couple.. does anyone have any information on this subject?

  a young 14 year old girl was disfellowshipped in my former congregation last week

  a baptized girl from my former cong.

  was expelled out because she participated in more than one porn videos with classmates in the school and theses videos became public.

  she is 14 years old and grew up as witnesses.but anybody knows she had many boyfriends and she-, but that thing was unbelievable!

  I think the most important question is...who was watching it that they knew it was true, and did the eldubs watch it to just to be sure? If they did, shame on them and df them for watching it.

  This whole thing is totally disturbing. FlyingHighNow is so right, the adults of the marketing world are leading kids to make poor life choices thinking they will gain approval, when in fact they are left with guilt and bad memories.

  This girl and her friends need adults in their lives who care enough to raise and counsel them well.

  A question for my friends in the USA about cowboys.

  as a kid growing up in the uk we used to play 'cowboys and indians' and watch high chaparal and bonanza along with other cowboy films.

  later, in the 70's kung fu would be shown with caine going through the 'old west'.

  we even had a chocolate bar that was marketed with a 'cowboy' theme...milky bar.. as far as i know the 'wild west' as shown on tvdidn't actually exist.. are there people that believe it did?.

  A picture paints a thousand words, but ...

  while i appreciate people like to post funny pictures from time to time i think it's sometimes gotten a little out of hand and has had a detrimental effect on some of the topics.

  while many of the pictures are humerous this isn't intended to be a meme site and there's a tendency for pictures to keep pushing the line and becoming more crude, gross or shocking.. i'd like to request people think twice before posting things like this.

  i'm not saying they are outright banned but please think twice before posting them - do they really futher the discussion any or do they detract from the conversation?.

  Simon has the right to moderate this site as he sees fit. I personally think he does a great job of letting everyone have their say and only rarely feels the need to step in. At times it does seem to be a gross-out contest of who can out-do the last poster and the threads do run off-course.

  Thanks, Simon, for all you do. I know many of us appreciate the tremendous support system this site provides.

  This weeks #2 & #3 talk on homosexuality

  after a one year sucessful fade and no longer associated with any congreation, i was visiting my sister this week (who goes to the meeting to please her husband for now; i am slowly planting seeds though) and they decided to year this weeks midweek meeting via the telephone.

  since i was a guest in her house, i sat with them in the living room to hear the meeting.

  to my surprise (especially growing up as a gay jw with still alot of anger in my heart over how i was treated), the talks 2 and 3 where on, of course, homosexualiy.

  You know....what's really amazing is just how overly concerned people are about the lifestyles and actions of OTHER PEOPLE! Saying that gays shouldn't have the right to marry is like saying that no one else is allowed to eat cookies because you're on a diet. People need to start living their own lives with integrity and compassion, and stop worrying about everyone else.

  For those choosing to believe the bible, the basic message Jesus clearly laid out was to Love Your Neighbors As Yourself. Simply put, we are to show real kindness to everyone and treat them in a loving way. Jesus reserved his condemnation for those twisting religious doctrine for their own benefit. He showed compassion to everyone else.

  Why waste time worrying about what other people do or who they are or what their sexual preferences are? If we all spent that time appreciating each other instead, think of the possibilities. The world is a wondrous place full of things we have yet to totally comprehend.

  i saw some jw's in my neighbourhood today from my ex kh.

  they were on the ministry and happened to call at my door!!.

  i calmly explained i had da'd and now went to a regular church.

  several years ago, i was studying the bible (jw literature) with an ms from the local congregation.

  i happened to mention that i had several pen pals who were incarcerated in various prisons.

  no matter what crimes they committed, i said i saw them as fellow human being who deserved to have a friend to write to.

  Terry, so sorry you had to experience that.

  Your description of a true Criminal is also what we call a Con Artist or confidence man...tricksters and professional liars.

  And in reading your description, it defined Some Elders I Have Known, The GB, and my ex who used to be an elder. Don't know if he learned his con man ways from them or if he helped groom others.

  be amazing.. try these searches: blood transfusions.
