It is a shame this happened. When I was in highschool these things happened kinda frequently...

Not 20 at a time but 1 here another there. A guy shot on the BBall court. Never even made the news. I guess since the recent fervor over these types of things they get attention.

I still do not understand the shock of this happening, especially in a nation that achieved its power through acts on a daily basis far worse.

I guess this is the way things have been sinec the beginning , so one can not be very shocked if they think logically.

How was it not meant to be this way? Just asking

just read a post on jwsurvey about the new donation arrangement.

congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.

congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.

I have watched over my time as a witness old people give away land and money and retirement and stock and cars to this org. The brothers never seem to think anything of it. They will continue to do this. Whatever the "guys at the top" may be cooking up by this"expected failure" will also be swallowed by the brothers. I would love to see it all crumble as much if not more than anyone but thi s is not going to be it

I still do not see how this is going to really cause any type of huge issue amongst RandF brothers and Sisters.

Maybe it is because I have seen bigger changes made that have no effect on them and so I can not get amped up about this... If I understanad this correctly it will appear to the average DUB that they have said not to worry about paying back your loan just send what you can.

In turn the elders will pass out slips that pretty much tells them to put down what they can pay monthly and then the elders will obviously make sure it is atleast the amount that they would owe on the loan anyway. How can this possibly cause the huge shakeup I think most are expecting? I really am not being facetious... I really want to know.

The only aspect of this that I see is just a huge rumor and I doubt could possibly ever happen is elders sitting down with family heads over thier tax returns. If something like that was to happen sure there would be issues otherwise this just appears to be another change that will be accepted and the world will keep spinning. I think this wishful thinking on our parts is just that

I hate to be a wet blanket but I highly doubt that this letter will really cause some form of mass concern amongst the RandF.

I would love for it to take place but look at what emeth has stated... that same flawed logic will be employed by every company man in the place and spread to others.

Now if in some odd way which I know it will never happen that they do decide to sit with family heads and go over their tax returns... that might cause a shake up. This letter not so much

Are my children in danger of being indoctrinated if I let them spend the night with their JW family?

so... i'm writing because i have mixed feelings.

keeping my kids safe is my goal... until they are old enough to understand and reason on their own.

my mother gave me the tapes (that i gave her back in december) of combating mind control by steven hassan, saying that she didn't have a tape player... reminded me of three years ago when i gave her crisis of conscience by ray franz and she said it's to big book to read and she's not a reader.

Yes they are in danger as long as they are with family that still hold the line. 3 weeks ago my mother ran into my two children at my sisters home. She began talking about normal grandmother stuff as most would, but then she pulled my 9 year old daughter outside as if she wanted to play and told her, "I know your daddy doesn't love Jehovah anymore byut that doesn't mean you have to give up on him too! Tell your daddy how much you love Jehovah and you want to be with his people!"

My daughter instantly called me on the phone and told me. I told my mother that she can not be trusted around them ever again because she purposely went against my wishes. Not that all JW's are the same but I think most will perform similar actions.

I made my daughters cry last night.....

my oldest, 10, pleaded with me that she'd do anything to get me to keep going to meetings ("i'll get a's on my report card!").

Give it 4 months... children adjust quickly to things.

If there is not another parent pulling them in another direction that is.

My daughter instantly said she was ready to give up on jehoober after about 8 days of me telling her

Metatron I agree. The latest crop of elders currently in their late 20s through early 40s would not allow this to happen.

Imagine the problems that would occur when cobe informs his wife that br secretary only makes 28k...

It would spread like wildfire and people would leave in droves. I hope this insanity does take place but I dont think so
