The problem with trying to fade out is that some people just won't allow it. So I tip my hat to those who managed to pull this one off.

DA/DF Difference?

can someone explain the difference between disassociation and disfellowshipping?.
never really heard of disassociation before if i'm totally honest!.

appointments were made with pimi parents to let them know of the decision to no longer be a jw.
before the tall nonfat latte at starbucks was half drunk and after her parents asked several direct questions, they stood up, hugged her and said "well this is goodbye, return to jehovah and we'll pick up right where we left off, we love you," and walked out the door.

It is just going to take time, and keep doing what you are doing, just be there for her. My husband and I left it together, although he was just waiting for me to wake up to the whole thing, which I did. There will be days, even when you think it is all behind you, that will creep up and just mess with her head. I've been out since 2001, and even to this day it sometimes happens, especially when something comes up involving the relatives.
We both raised in it since we were 4 years of age, and both of our families are still very much involved with the Watchtower. Fortunately for my husband and I, we left it when our boys were only 4 and 6 years old, and they are living very full lives without any of the JW influences. One is in his third year of college with a very lovely girlfriend whom he is very serious about, and the other married with a baby.

Gay ex-JWs who were in special full-time service

when and what country?
i was always told there were a lot gays in full-time service but it always felt very lonely.

I've personally known one young man who did a lot in the organization. I knew both him and his mother, and he was around 5 when we first met. Later when he was older he did a really good job at hiding it. While as an active witness he did a lot of things such as work in the literature department, carry the mic during the meetings. I know he would auxiliary pioneer from time to time, but I can't recall if he went into the full-time ministry or not, but his mother was a regular pioneer for many years. I wasn't around when he finally did leave the Watchtower, but I heard that once he left he finally came out. His mother also left the Watchtower about the same time. She had personally witnessed how the Watchtower had treated several of her JW relatives (no longer involved as well) and saw the hypocrisy of the whole thing.

Anyone notice JW old publications are going way up in price?
by Tobyjones262 ini have long collected the older books and magazines that show the jws crazy cult history.
they used to be very cheap and i have had people just give me books.
but now it seems the older stuff that shows the crazy cult history is really going up in price.

Baptised 52 years today!

I was 17, and it will be 33 years this summer. My mom never pushed the issue of me getting baptized, but the congregation that we had recently moved into was putting on the pressure big time. Finally, after putting up with it, I decided to just get it over and to get those people off of my back about it. While going through the study, the one where an elder goes over questions to see what was in my "heart", he said there were several others getting baptized, and if that was why I was doing that. That was news to me because I didn't really know anyone else. At the time I was really shy, because of a ton of crap that I had been dealing with over the years, and didn't see the need to allow anyone to get close to me. Still that way to some aspects, not enjoyable.
Anyways later found out that there were around 12 (myself included) who got baptized from the congregation I was attending. If any are wondering I was the last one of that group to leave or get kicked out of the Watchtower. Most of them were gone before they even reached their first year. One of the girls actually got kicked out of her home by her step-father, because she was dating a "worldly" guy. She was baptized only 2 months before this. She ended up moving in with her boyfriend and dropping out of high school as a result. Another one of the girls that got baptized had only done it as well because certain people in the organization was expecting her to do it as well. Another one of the girls who got baptized ended up moving to Texas and became a dancer (stripper), just to piss off her JW mother.
The awful part about that baptism that summer was there was a little girl sitting next to me during the baptism talk at the convention. I don't know who she was, but I asked her how old she was, and her response to me was 8 years old.

About five years after I left the JWs, it was a blood transfusion that saved my life. My mother who had not spoken to me other than to belittle and play mind games with me found out that I was not doing so well. She never asked me how I was, but rather, did I take a blood transfusion. As if it even mattered. I never answered her question, because it wasn't any of her business.

I realized today what I am, and why they look at me with contempt

they hadn't been in our lives since we left the jws back in 2001. but every time, even though very briefly, i was around them, they always had this same look on their face.
it was of utter and complete disgust.

The thing that drives me crazy about my father-in-law is that he is one of the biggest hypocrites that I have ever known. I've seen that man at family birthday parties, celebrating, and singing right along with everyone else. This man is so disgusting that he put his own wife in a bad situation, and got her disfellowshipped for it. She did get reinstated about a year later, but not after being humiliated for that time period.

Anti vaccines
by blisterfeet ini personally feel that vaccinations are beneficial.
there has been a modern movement that vaccinations are more harmful than beneficial to which i disagree.
what is your stance as an ex jw on vaccinating your children?

Df'd minor thrown out of home
by purrpurr inhave you ever heard of a jw minor getting disfellowshipped and their parents then throwing them out of home?
i know of 1, 14yr old, df'd for smoking and the very same night it was annoced his mother kicked him out of the family home on to the streets!.
unsurprisingly as an adult he's never returned to his mother or the wt .

I use to know one woman who got pregnant because she was raped when she was a teen and made the mistake of getting baptized before that. When her pregnancy (because of the rape) became known she was both disfellowshipped and kicked out of her home before she was 16. Eventually, she met a really good guy, and they got married. She also became a nurse.

Yes, steve2, I'm an-JW. My mom decided to become a JW when I was 4 to survive the big A in 75. She had convinced me that it was the right path, that was until I started to think for myself
Today left me mentally exhausted, as it always does when dealing with my in-laws (both JWs and non-JWs).
