25 YEARS of compiled yearbook statistics
by 88JM inhello again folks - as promised in my last thread here, i've been working on turning yearbook statistics into excel spreadsheets.. coincidentally, today is my 25th birthday (spare a thought for a fader).. i've now updated the spreadsheet with yearbook data all the way back to 1988 (the year i was born), therefore it now contains 25 years of statistics.. there were a lot of countries changing around and for some it was possible to create a continuation of data.
some are a simple change of name like south-west africa to namibia.
others, for example - in 1993 with czechoslovakia splitting into two countries (czech republic and slovakia) i have added an extra row that provides a continuation of the data, combining czech republic and slovakia back together as if they were still one country.

"Neither can salt water produce fresh water." - James 3:12, RNWT
by 88JM ini noticed this verse the other night and thought it looked so obviously ridiculously provably untrue that there must be something more to it.
surely even a bible writer must understand that desalination isn't witchcraft?.
new american standard bible:"nor can salt water produce fresh.".

The Theory Of Everything
by 88JM inquestion: should able-bodied actors play characters with disabilities?.
i got myself into a bit of a quandary over a discussion on a facebook group.
it was partly based on this article in the guardian:.

Eating disorders - advice about someone
by 88JM ini'm sure there are probably a few posters on here that have had experience themselves or had family members with eating disorders.
i'm posting here not for myself, but out of concern for someone else.. there is a teenage (about 16, recently baptized) brother who quite obviously has an eating disorder.
i have personally been at a few gatherings and seen him refuse all food while everyone else was eating, with the excuse that "he wasn't hungry", so i can say it's definitely an eating disorder and not some allergy or just a one-off.. i'm also not the only one who has noticed it - i've been in discussions with a few brothers and sisters who have also remarked on his conditon, but don't seem to know any more about it than i do.

Symposium: Those Who Will Inherit God's Kingdom
by 88JM init's been said before that once you know ttatt, then you listen with very different ears to talks at conventions.
i thought the second symposium this year on saturday morning of the convention was particularly terrible - here's what i had as the summary of the four parts:.
those "who are poor".

BBC Radio 4 reference to 607 Babylonian conquest?
by 88JM inwas listening to bbc radio 4 late sunday night, and in a programme about migration, they referenced the "babylonian conquest of jerusalem in 607 b.c.
" which caught my attention.. did they not mean 587 b.c., or did i understand it wrong?.
the link to the programme is below - sorry if you're not in the u.k. as you probably won't be able to listen to bbc programmes.

Memorial talk fact checking - a story
by 88JM inthis was in the memorial talk here last night, used as an illustration i guess.. i think there is some direction to use an experience like this in the outline, but the story that the speaker told (presented as fact) sounds totally bogus to me, or at best urban legend.. does anyone know if this is actually true?
here is the story the speaker told:.
"some years ago there was a tragic train accident in england, and sadly some lost their lives.
