Huis Clos
steve, are you saying Hawaii is hell?
is it truely a firey place of torment as some religions teach?
or is it just the grave, as another religion teaches?
Huis Clos
steve, are you saying Hawaii is hell?
thanks to the marvels of bit torrent, i've stumbled upon this show starring micheal ian black, whom i liked in viva variety and the state.
i love this show and i've only seen three episodes.. anybody else out there like this show?
if you like off-beat comedy i reccomend that you check it out.
Micheal Ian Black was great in The State, however, being a sort of homophobe, he's been a little too 'gay' as of late.
'3 guys on crack'?, lol--you know Lynrd Skynard was once reviewed as being "15 drunk guys up on stage."
lewis says jesus' claim to be equal with deity leaves us only one other choice: .
a man who was merely a man and said the sort of things jesus said would not be a great moral teacher.
he would either be a lunatic on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg or else he would be the devil of hell.
who names their kid Clive Staples? What the hell is all that aboot? maybe that's why he went by C.S., because 'Clive Staples' was too gay
i remember spanking my son when we used to attend meetings and conventions because he cried and just wouln't sit still.
i was told that he had to be disciplined so he would learn to behave and learn what was being said from the platform.
now that i look back i realize that that was child abuse and i feel so horrible about it.do you feel guilty for spanking your kids during meetings and conventions?
One could never convince me that a pat on the bottom is abuse. Spanking, done correctly, is just.
An analogy-In the military, if a private screws up, the drill sergeant or sergeant will "smoke" the private (pushups, situps, etc.) if he screws up. The private will be smoked until he is tired. It hurts. But when it is done, the private is stronger, not just physically, but mentally, for he knows what he/she has done wrong, and will not do it again.
Damn, if my wee one knew what a pushup was, I'd avoid spanking and just "smoke" him.
10- you vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of your god - jehovah.. .
9- you feel insulted and 'dehumanized' when scientists say that people evolved from lesser life forms, but you have no problem with the biblical claim that we were created from dirt.. .
8- you laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in multidues of demons, angels, cherubs etc.. .
2- You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of Jehovah God.
But remember, you're only asking God to help you cope with life's problems
whether in the congregation or at bethel?
I had visions shortly after I ate a toasted bagel with green butter
Mariah Carey sucks!!!!
as they release the 9/11 tapes for all of us to renew the horror of that day again, i feel my anxiety level raise almost as much as it did that very day.
i watched the face of the man i worked for stare in disbelief as he came rushing into the room to watch in absolute horror as the trade centers fell one after the other killing his close friend inside.
as he collapsed on the couch, i knew i would never forget the look on his face for the rest of my life.
I'm glad DE addressed that comment. It also needs to be noted, that 60 years ago, there were no precision laser guided bombs, no strategic air strikes (as we know them now), and the doctrine dictated a different approach.
Had the bomb not been dropped, we would currently be fighting a terrorist insurgency in Japan, as well as Iraq-leading to more deaths than what actually happened on Aug 6 and 9, 1945. After all, kamikaze=SVBIED driver (Suicide Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device).
They call war hell for a reason
a priest said: "when you add up all the things that jesus spoke about in the gospels it comes to two hours".
however he said," it was his deeds that counted more than his words".
did you ever hear that before!
VGER
tell us about the results, the fun, the friendships you made and those that broke.
did you meet your current spouse there?
what was your team captain like?
yup. West Virginia as a matter of fact. There actually was one guy in that hall I enjoyed meeting.
We learned that all preachers will only be respected if they drive around in a big white Caddy. That was what the locals expected. (One of the elders who went with us had one. He met much "success.")
It was kind of like JW's-Real World. While everyone was friendly with each other at the hall back home, everyone got annoyed with each other within 12 hours of arriving at the hall in WV.
My pops was team captain, so I never had a problem.
I also remember it being hot as hell.
Every householder had a huge black velvet painting of Elvis.
There was one dude sitting on his porch about 500 feet away from the hall just jammin on his banjo. That was pretty cool.
