  NWT released in modern Hebrew

  on february 21, 2020, the wt society made the announcement in their website of the release of the new world translation in modern hebrew (hebrew scriptures - "tanakh") in haifa, israel.

  now, the complete nwt is available in modern hebrew.. some time ago, a poster here said that releasing (in theory, i.e.

  ) the hebrew bible in a modern version, such as the nwt, would be irrational.

  My take on why the WTB&TS has,

  On February 21, 2020, the WT Society made the announcement in their website of the release of the New World Translation in modern Hebrew (Hebrew Scriptures - "Tanakh") in Haifa, Israel. Now, the complete NWT is available in modern Hebrew.

  In their delusional thinking that they are the mouthpiece for Jehovah to the world in this time of the end.

  They think they will fulfill the prophecy of Zechariah Ch.8:20-23

  20 ."This is what jehovah of armies has said "it will yet be that peoples and the inhabitants of many cities will come 21. and the inhabitants of one city will certainly go to those of another saying let us earnestly go to those of another saying let us earnestly go to soften the face of jehovah.......

  22. And many peoples and mighty nations will actually come to seek Jehovah of armies in Jerusalem........

  23. This is what Jehovah of of armies has said It will be in those days that ten men out of all the languages of the nations will take hold yes they will actually take hold of the skirt of a man who is a jew saying we will go with you people for we have heard that God is with you people .

  And that my friends is why the WTB&TS have published the whole NWT of the Bible into modern day Hebrew.

  my wife and i are not religious nor do we want to be.

  we are very set in our spiritual beliefs.

  we have worked with a jw who's family have been like a part of our family for 6 years.

  Get your kids away from these people as soon as possible .This is not a harmless religion .they will indoctrinate your kids at any given opportunity.And certainly don`t ever let them take your kids to any meetings.

  Love bombing is a term used and a method to recruit people. Be warned.

  Do your research on this religion as regards family`s destroyed by this cult and a cult is what they are .

  I was one for 32 years before I woke up ,but that`s another story.

  Languages, Dialects, Accents

  just though i'd start a thread devoted to languages, dialects/sociolects and accents, with the idea being that posters can comment on any language, or dialect or accent of any language, on this thread.. any phrases, expressions or idioms that you find interesting are also welcome.

  first, the subject of english accents came up on another thread.. the british isles have many different types of accent (although many of the dialects may be dying out), and if i start to take a closer look, i can't help but see 'patterns' .... in received pronunciation of standard english, the letter r is pronounced initially, between vowels, and after consonants, e.g.

  red, arrow, break.

  To a JW, everything is a sign that Armageddon is imminent.

  Ain`t that the truth .

  However i don`t think we have heard the last of this yet, it could get a lot worse by the sound of things probably worse than the Ebola scare of a few years ago, seeing its spreading to more countries.

  i was thinking about this at work the other day, and realized the one positive thing i can truly credit the jws with: .

  i have no fear of public speaking.

  i was a shy kid, fat, clumsy, with crooked glasses and worse teeth, who wore hand-me-downs in one of the wealthiest counties in all of america, who sat still while classmates got up to salute the flag or recite the pledge of allegiance.

  I gave up smoking when i became a JW only to find out after many years that it was still tolerated ,that pissed me off a bit at the time .

  But i`m glad now that I stopped .

  Circuit Overseer to Answer My Questions + Concerns...or Not

  hello all, i'm 'researching', a jw who is in the first steps of taking a look at their beliefs.. i've semi-recently (about a couple weeks ago) heard about the sexual abuse cases (pennsylvania attorney general’s investigation request) and then the arc in 2015. this lead to a deep investigation, which lead to many questions arising.

  a jw friend of mine suggested i be careful (due to apostates) and ask the brothers.

  so i typed up my questions + concerns and emailed an elder my mother has known for a long time.

  I typed up my questions + concerns and emailed an Elder my mother has known for a long time. He in turn said he didn't want to put his own personal 'spin' or perspective on things, saying he is going to pass the information on to a Circuit Overseer who will be in town (at the time) in a few weeks.

  This guy has just passed the buck on to this C.O.who is going to instigate a JC committee to find out where you are getting these ideas from....... apostates ? No brother or sister comes up with these type of questions on their own ,you must be looking at apostate material etc,etc,etc.

  I`m sorry my friend but you are soon going to find out who your real true friends are ,and they wont be who you think they are .

  I would love to be proved wrong on this however time will tell.

  By the way welcome to this forum ,we would love to know how you go with this situation.

  Their obsession with beards.yet funny enough when they give an illustration about those in heaven ruling with Christ Jesus that includes women who were annointed they are all portrayed as having beards ? women & men in heaven having beards ?

  And women wearing slacks ? is a no no.?...what scripture is that ?

  Men were wearing gowns that could be construed as being womens clothing also no ? nothing said about that .

  I`m sure I have missed out on some other obvious ones ,I look forward to your comments .

  i see that the older books are selling for a good price.

  Death of NASA Legend Aged 101

  katherine johnson passed away today aged 101. she was the subject of the excellent movie hidden figures that told the story of her amazing work as a mathematician calculating trajectories for space flights.. 'ms.

  johnson helped our nation enlarge the frontiers of space even as she made huge strides that also opened doors for women and people of color in the universal human quest to explore space.

  R.I.P. Katherine Johnson ,I hope she had all of her faculty`s about her and to see her achievements with the other ladies on screen in that marvellous movie.

  And it was still a time when she and others were classed as 2nd class citizen and she still gave her all.

  I find it somewhat amazing and also somewhat sad that many old time JW`s have conveniently forgotten what was printed on the inside cover of the Watchtower magazine not that many years ago.

  Basically it went something like this . { those that saw and understood the events that took place in 1914 ,that generation would not pass away until all these things occur }

  And that is why they stated and inferred that before the end of the 20th Century Armageddon and the New System would be here.

  And its now 20 years later with no indication that either is going to happen.

  It must be extremely hard for an individual who has spent a lifetime believing something to admit to themselves that they have been misled all of those years .

  Is it pride ? stubbornness ? embarrassment ? guilt ? that prevents a person from admitting that to themselves ?
