1991 Watchtower study article just prior to WTS joining UN

please see the study article, “their refuge–a lie!” in the june 1, 1991 watchtower, noting paragraphs 1, 10 and 11. paragraph 1 calls christendom “that apostate religious organization.” why apostate?.

paragraph 10 asserts that “she insinuates herself into the favor of the political leaders of the nations–this despite the bible’s warning that friendship with the world is enmity with god.” to support that assertion, paragraph 11 quotes an unnamed “recent book” which reports that “no fewer than 24 catholic organizations are represented at the un.” how were such organizations represented at the un?.

the unnamed book quoted in paragraph 11 is new genesis by robert muller.

Then of course there is this :" Let every soul be in subjection to the superior authorities for there is no authority except by God , the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God. 2 Therefore he who opposes the authority has taken a stand against the arrangement of God,those who have taken a stand against it will receive judgement to themselves .3 For those ruling are an object of fear,not to the good deed but to the bad.Do you then want to have no fear of the authority ? keep doing good and you will have praise from it .4 for it is Gods minister to you for your good ,but if you are doing what is bad be in fear for it is not without purpose that it bears the sword ,for it is Gods minister ,an avenger to express wrath upon the one practicing what is bad." etc,etc. Rom.Chapt.13

Charles Taze Russell recognized the superior authorities were the Govts etc, when Joseph Rutherford came along he tried to make the superior authorities of Romans applying to Jehovah and Jesus Christ ,

the Governing Body of JW`s in the early 1960`s saw the error of their ways and corrected the situation and applied it back to the Governments / Secular Rulers of the Nations.

whilst i have never quite understood whether petra and atlantis are one or multiple entities i recognise the value of their work and web of contacts.

i think it is fair to say that no-one has consistently contributed more solid gold intelligence to this site.

no one has reliably passed on more bomb shells and solid news as well as day to day minutiae.

i have seen many movies or shows that make a passing reference to jehovah's witnesses but very few dwell on jws.

some like a deadly devotion episode i saw once tells a true story but the portal of jws is all wrong.

by movies i am not talking of documentaries.

I just don`t know stan my memory has failed me Though the time frame certainly fits.In the movie I`m thinking of Jehovah`s Witnesses were never mentioned .

hello all interested persons,.

whilst driving to work this morning listening to the radio, my ears pricked when the presenter began talking about jws.

it was on a programme which airs between 8.00 and 8.30 entitled am, and broadcast on the abc national radio.

My thoughts exactly ! In this regard I think their as bad if not worse than the Catholic religion that seems to be singled out by the media.

The last two movies you mention I have never heard of , the others I have seen and enjoyed to a point ,I give a bit of slack to those who produce these films as on a whole they haven`t experienced first hand as to what it`s like being a JW.

Except for one movie.

There was one in the 1960`s ? about a couple who went through the trauma of rejecting a blood transfusion for their child ,I think i picked it to piece s at the time .I think dennis Weaver was the actor .?

Somehow the name ruth comes to mind , but I `m just guessing now.

a criminal case has been opened in moscow over the resumed activities of a jehovah’s witnesses admin center.

although russia’s supreme court outlawed the extremist organization back in 2017, the center has been active since june 2019. apart from moscow, searches were carried out in more than 20 other regions throughout the country, izvestia writes.. work to ferret out the banned cells of jehovah’s witnesses has been going on for several years.

Cult researcher Alexander Korelov points out that the number of Jehovah’s Witnesses followers has significantly declined. There used to be about 150,000 adherents nationwide but many people have walked out on the sect and some have left the country.

If it`s happening in Russia, "the walking out of the sect" ,maybe the Governing Body of JW`s did us all a favour when they instructed their associates / volunteers / R&F , to join the internet ?

I believe it would have Cheeses , I normally listen to AM after the news but today I just didn`t turn it on.

73 years old, a Witness for 48 years, an elder for 24 years, Baptized just before 1975. WOKE UP!

i thought i would post an encouraging experience i found today.

i've been seeing a lot of 70-80 year old jws waking up, and their children are posting their experience on reddit.

these are old elders, pioneers, circuit overseers who have given their everything and finally at the end of their life, are walking away.. maybe the key to waking up is that a person has to have a deep sense of right and wrong.

When I read this experience I had a tear in my eye , whoever said "you can`t teach an old dog new tricks" ?

And the line from this gentleman is simply the best .

The whole thing is now morphing into a new online trash internet religion with no real substance .

Never a truer word was said.

The fact that he never shunned his son was also telling ,he was just a slow learner .

But eventually he got there.
