Name one POSITIVE thing you took from your experience as a Witness

i was thinking about this at work the other day, and realized the one positive thing i can truly credit the jws with: .

i have no fear of public speaking.

i was a shy kid, fat, clumsy, with crooked glasses and worse teeth, who wore hand-me-downs in one of the wealthiest counties in all of america, who sat still while classmates got up to salute the flag or recite the pledge of allegiance.

I gave up smoking when i became a JW only to find out after many years that it was still tolerated ,that pissed me off a bit at the time .

But i`m glad now that I stopped .

Circuit Overseer to Answer My Questions + Concerns...or Not

hello all, i'm 'researching', a jw who is in the first steps of taking a look at their beliefs.. i've semi-recently (about a couple weeks ago) heard about the sexual abuse cases (pennsylvania attorney general’s investigation request) and then the arc in 2015. this lead to a deep investigation, which lead to many questions arising.

a jw friend of mine suggested i be careful (due to apostates) and ask the brothers.

so i typed up my questions + concerns and emailed an elder my mother has known for a long time.

I typed up my questions + concerns and emailed an Elder my mother has known for a long time. He in turn said he didn't want to put his own personal 'spin' or perspective on things, saying he is going to pass the information on to a Circuit Overseer who will be in town (at the time) in a few weeks.

This guy has just passed the buck on to this C.O.who is going to instigate a JC committee to find out where you are getting these ideas from....... apostates ? No brother or sister comes up with these type of questions on their own ,you must be looking at apostate material etc,etc,etc.

I`m sorry my friend but you are soon going to find out who your real true friends are ,and they wont be who you think they are .

I would love to be proved wrong on this however time will tell.

By the way welcome to this forum ,we would love to know how you go with this situation.

Their obsession with beards.yet funny enough when they give an illustration about those in heaven ruling with Christ Jesus that includes women who were annointed they are all portrayed as having beards ? women & men in heaven having beards ?

And women wearing slacks ? is a no no.?...what scripture is that ?

Men were wearing gowns that could be construed as being womens clothing also no ? nothing said about that .

I`m sure I have missed out on some other obvious ones ,I look forward to your comments .

so i have an eye out for a couple of the more nefarious jw books from the past.

i look on ebay etsy and others.

i see that the older books are selling for a good price.

Death of NASA Legend Aged 101

katherine johnson passed away today aged 101. she was the subject of the excellent movie hidden figures that told the story of her amazing work as a mathematician calculating trajectories for space flights.. 'ms.

johnson helped our nation enlarge the frontiers of space even as she made huge strides that also opened doors for women and people of color in the universal human quest to explore space.

R.I.P. Katherine Johnson ,I hope she had all of her faculty`s about her and to see her achievements with the other ladies on screen in that marvellous movie.

And it was still a time when she and others were classed as 2nd class citizen and she still gave her all.

I find it somewhat amazing and also somewhat sad that many old time JW`s have conveniently forgotten what was printed on the inside cover of the Watchtower magazine not that many years ago.

Basically it went something like this . { those that saw and understood the events that took place in 1914 ,that generation would not pass away until all these things occur }

And that is why they stated and inferred that before the end of the 20th Century Armageddon and the New System would be here.

And its now 20 years later with no indication that either is going to happen.

It must be extremely hard for an individual who has spent a lifetime believing something to admit to themselves that they have been misled all of those years .

Is it pride ? stubbornness ? embarrassment ? guilt ? that prevents a person from admitting that to themselves ?

I like the painting Coco though I`m not sure where blondie fits in with it ?

That clump of trees on the right reminds me of a Bison and the trees in the centre of the picture reminds me of a bird feeding her chicks in a nest ?

And I see a grape vine along the fence with a field of canola behind it .

I wonder what other people see in this painting eh?

Oh I forgot ,...a talented artist .

What ?, I counted 16 sites that challenge the JW religion and i`m sure there are many ,many more out their .

All from different parts of the world , the G.B. of the Jehovah`s Witnesses should be worried because if anything things are going to intensify over the coming months and years ,it is not going away by any means.

The writing is on the wall for the religion of Jehovah`s Witnesses today as we know it .

Gangs from immigrants are now taking over the streets of Melbourne making it an unsafe place to be after dark especially.

And if by any chance they do get a conviction its a slap on the wrist in most cases.
