  according to my older brother, my mother now refuses to watch the news in case they mention this story.

  funny, when the news exposed the catholic church she turned the volume up.. at least 20 former jehovah's witnesses are suing the group over historical sexual abuse they say they suffered.the group has a policy of not punishing alleged child sex abuse unless a second person, alongside the accuser, has witnessed it - or an abuser confesses.it says its elders "comply with child-abuse reporting laws even if there is only one witness", though, and always tell police if a child is in danger.but one former elder said it had been failing to involve the authorities.john viney, who says he was abused between the ages of nine and 13, by "a distant family member who was an active jehovah's witness", added children were still being abused and the religious organisation was "inadvertently" protecting their abusers.

  Its all about saving face , protecting their image , not bringing reproach on Jehovah`s name or Jehovah`s Witnesses religion

  That`s why they the Elders never report child sex abuse to the appropriate authorities .

  so im reading this book 1619 about slavery then it dawned on me that shunning like slavery emotionally rips apart families.

  if you look at romans 1:32 study note under natural afection they tell on themselves if you cannnot love your familey you cannot love others wow just wow try shareing that point with your pimi relatives..

  Hi Yomama and welcome to the board ,you do make a valid point but as Vidiot points out the Bible does not and has not condemned slavery anywhere and in fact tells slaves to be obedient to their masters Eph.6:5

  Its no wonder that many people say the Bible is like an instrument you can play any tune on .

  I hope you stick around there is much to learn on this site ,I have learnt more in the 10 or so years on this site about JW`s than I ever did in my 32 years as an active JW.

  Dont forget Jehovah`s Witnesses are on record as saying they "have no clergy class" .

  Yet in a Court room when asked to divulge certain information ,they claim Clergy-Penetint privilege ?

  Which is it WT / G.B./JW ? Do you have a Clergy class or don`t you.?

  That is something the rank and file PIMI JW`s should be asking the Elders in there congregations .

  Also to note as an example using the Catholic religion a person confesses to a priest and its between the priest and the confessor alone nobody else is involved .

  If and when somebody confessed a sin / crime to an Elder in the JW religion it then becomes a matter for a judicial meeting with 3 Elders , that then is passed on to the Branch Office and possibly to the legal dpartment which involves a helluva lot more people .

  So in no way can it conform to simply one Clergy person and a confessor.

  I don’t think this crap will end till regular elders start getting convicted and jailed for YEARS for the non reporting and coverup of CSA. When that happens, things will change.

  I don`t understand or know why this hasn`t been occurring years ago ,for one thing it might just wake up Elders as to their responsability to the child victim and not to just protect the image of the JW religion or the name Jehovah.

  We all know that the JW organization would not back up the Elders if they were charged with negligence of a childs safety Elders would quickly learn that they would be thrown under the bus after all they are not in the employ of the WTB&TS they are only volunteers ,so the responsability rests squarely on their shoulders ,its not our problem says the Watchtower.

  hi did any former elders ever suggest that bro & sis should go to the police?.

  there was a group of sis with various health conditions and on medications had a gathering and drank a lot wine , one of the sister physically assaulted another sis , myself and a another elder were assigned to deal with it after hearing what happened i said to the sis she could contact the police the other elder a lot older gave me a dirty look , the sis said i trust you bro to deal with it .. i think that's why witnesses don't get the police involved because we have been convinced that we can trust the elders and the organisation , and to trust and have faith that god knows all the facts and can read hearts and will deal with it in his time scale and encouraged to leave it with him and not to bring reproach on his name..

  To guide them in theirWhat is it about Romans 13:1-7 that Jehovah`s Witnesses can`t comprehend ? I mean its spelt out plain as daylight.

  OOOOHHHH That`s right there is a scripture that contradicts that one isn`t there .1 Corinthians 6 : 1-11 ,that is also spelt out as plain as daylight isn`t it.

  Do Jehovah`s Witnesses today have a Moral Compass ? or even an Ethics Compass ?

  In their everyday existence in the world they live in and even care for the children in their own congregations who can`t speak for themselves because they are intimidated sadly by there own parents and the Elders in the congregation who won`t speak up for them .

  I don't know why the borg will not let the flock witness there.

  I`m sorry but is that true ? The Borg / Elders will not let the R&F witness there ?

  Is there any confirmation of that anywhere ? Letters ,directions from the G.B. or the local Elders ?

  thirteen years ago you commented on an idea circulating among some jws prior to 1975, that there was a possibility that armageddon survivors might not be able to marry.. "these vows that honor god are used—not from the bible but the only ones sanctioned by the wts.. for as long as we both shall live together on earth according to god's marital arrangement.. when i was in my 20’s, many jws interpreted this to mean that at some point in the 'new system' marriage would end.

  since this was shortly before 1975, many jws rushed to get married worried that they would never have the chance (and never have the chance to have sex.

  l remember many elders speculating that once the earth is full theres a chance mankind may go on to inhabit the rest of the universe.

  I may be wrong but I do think that was speculated in one of their publications at one time .

  And the reasons put forward then was that the planets are in different stages of being prepared for human habitation .

  Or something along those lines .Most likely it was stated between the 60`s - 80`s time frame.

  i was balding and grey so i asked my witness barber friend to "just shave it all off" many brothers were doing the comb over which looked friggin stupid.

  but oh no in the 1990's this was rebellious he had to call a brother we knew at bethel to see if it was ok. we got his ok to go ahead but at the time i could help thinking about the no beard rule and how controlled and cultish we were..
