Is my mind still controlled???.....Is yours????

we are all set for a lovely xmas week and nice holiday, but this image is indellably printed in my brain and i cannot erase it.. .

it's from the bible teach book, chapter 16 para 11. i did that many bible studies and trained them how we need to make a stand for true worship and not ever return to pagan practices.. so now over this season of good will, and fun i have a literal bitter taste.. are you having flash backs?

how can we remove these images from our brain?

Your mind will have remnants of mind control for years Kate. We've been out 6 years now, and still when we hear certain words it causes word association flashbacks.

One exercise we have tried is to fire quick phrases at each other. Like: "Field".....the other person may answer "Service". Or say "circuit". The other person has to say something other than "overseer".

The idea being to change the word association that the borg uses to keep your mind enslaved. They call it the pure language. Its not. Its anesthetic for the real you.

Believing It All EXCEPT...

i used to think that loyal jws bought into the wt teachings 100%.. that's certainly what the gb wants and expects and demands.. but then i encountered some jws who believe it all except for the opposition to higher education.. they think the gb is wrong about that, so all of the children are college educated.. others seem to believe it all but quietly celebrate family birthdays and various holidays.. these aren't people who are fading; they just ignore a few wt teachings that they don't like (despite the risks of being disciplined).. have you seen similar examples of active jws who are doing all the wt-approved stuff except for specific areas where they just ignore what the gb says is required?.

The BEST way to "wake up" a JW

we have debated this over many years and in many threads, as all of us have family and/or former friends still in.

it seems that there is no "best" way to wake up a jw, it is as elusive as the "true" religion it seems.. but a comment made by poster "emery" on another thread stood out to me, he/she said :.

They fit my mother perfectly. 2 wayward kids to look after with a bitter batterer husband to divorce, she was ripe for the picking.

Along comes a pioneer sister who helps her at every turn, even lending a hand to discipline us boys, in fact running my mums life for her. My mum must have thought she was in heaven with all the physical and emotional support. After the divorce, this pioneer sister even saw it fit to fix her up with a bethel returnee!

No wonder she clings onto the " only religion that truely helps people" idea. She is impervious to anything I say, or even try to discuss. In the event I bring something up, she rewards me with the cold shoulder for months.

2014. This is the year I am going to see my mum for who she really is. She can try and shun me all she likes, i'm in her face from now on!

If You Were Still "In The Truth" What Type of Life Would You Have?

i think there are many that stay in the religion simply because of family/friends considerations.

Shunning: How would You Overcome it?

after reading the thread soon to be 18 and quit speaking to her mother- suggestions?, i started thinking of how to use the wtbts's doctrine to help jws to see what is the real purpose of shunning for the wtbts.

hopefully, some good ideas will be posted to this thread and may help exjws and jws to maintain relationships with each other instead of shunning the non-jws.. how would a jw react to the following?.

do christians shun or not associate with non-jws to help non-jws believe that the wtbts has the "truth", to keep the cong clean of non-believers, or to not be shunned?

Just like I told my step brother who is trying his best to shun his Dad, i wont stand by and watch you hurt anyone in this family. I will not condone such bad behavior, nor will i encourage it by not saying anything. Every week I phone him and ask if he has phoned Dad lately.

This weekend he is coming to visit Dad for the first time in 8 months. Be straight with them, get in there first before a pattern of shunning can develop. Make them aware you are watching their behavior and will not put up with it.

If you use their doctrine, they will simply find another doctrine to use against you.

Be human about it! Confront them on a one to one. No wiggle room.

Thoughts on going back, am I the only one that feels this way?

hello everyone, i know you have heard this topic before and your probably thinking.

...not again lol.. but i was wondering if anyone has thought of going back for the same reasons as myself, i don't think its the truth but i searched and my conclusion is that other religions don't have the truth, they are all wrong in my opinion.

if there is no other religion to go too, why leave were i was born and raised.

How can you let yourself condone lies? Lying to yourself as well as others is you trying to avoid pain. For now. But the pain will build and burden you and will eventually destroy whatever concsience you have left.

Why be that disrespectful to yourself?

1) Join a gun club

2) Go to a swinging group

3) Get a tattoo (I have days when I do want one and some I don't!!!!)

I rode with Danny at a fixie event in Edinburgh. He can do things with a bike that are beyond physics and my imagination. He's suffering quite a bit with long term injuries at the mo, so its not without cost to him.
