personally i hate it when you come face to face with someone disfellowshiped and you can't do a simple acknowledgement or greeting.

they are obviously making an effort to be there to be reinstated.

as i recall back in the 1970's they did allow this but what is always the case some took advantage of this provision and in engaged in full blown conversations.

Of the 4 congs we`ve been in, it has always been policy for disso`d peeps to sit at the back. Apparently its to help them cope with the shame and slip in and out of the hall without people staring at them. I personally think its bollocks. Every single person i knew that was d/shipped i had conversations with.

When me and Free and Happy got married in 91, there was a spate of our peers getting d/shipped. I made a point of talking to them when i could. People make mistakes, but they shouldnt have to keep paying for them with constant shaming. Thats cruel, you wouldnt even do it to a dog.

It could be that the gossip hurts too much, and they feel they have to keep going to moniter what people are saying about them. When our daughter was in hospital, we missed loads of meetings. We came back to lorry loads of gossip. Most people you talked to had some rubbish to throw into the mix. It made you feel like you should have been there to keep a lid on it all. "its easier to go than not go"

Why do Jw's have to pay for CO's expenses?

this is something that has always bothered me!.

why do rank and file have to pay for co's do's expenses, car, health insurance, meals, etc, etc...?.

didn't the apostle paul say that all christians have to be self sufficient and work?, not depending on anyone else and cause a burden?.

My Dad told me just this morning at work that a new elder, a VERY young man with a family, walked to where the co was sitting during the meeting, and gave him a white envelope. Afterwards, my Dad asked him what the envelope was all about. He said it was a personal cash gift to the co to show his familys appreciation. My Dad who is an ex elder himself, couldnt believe what he had just seen. All done in front of people DURING the meeting when he could be observed. I`m pleased to say my Dad was disgusted!

i've been playing around with wt statistics recently, helped by the great data available on jwfacts.com.

i wanted to share somehting with the community, maybe you've seen something like this before.. continuing the trend of decline seen during the last 30 years, i was able to extrapolate the year when wt growth might finally end.

if trends continue, we may only have to wait about 8 more years, 9 years to see it reported if the wt decides to report it at all, to see publisher growth end and possibly reverse.. the graph shows the annual growth rate of average publishers during the last 31 years.

Unbelievable Assertion!!!!!!!

we had our special assembly day this weekend.. what the district overseer stated in his talk totally stunned me, and made me feel sick to my stomach.

he said, "christ is directing us through the governing body, and we cannot get holy spirit except through them!".

i do not wish to reveal all my thoughts on his statement, but i pray to god that it acts as a wake-up call to at least some of the audience.. suffice to say that the gb is now the mediator to our mediator, and from now on, i will have to pray for holy spirit through the name of the gb!!.
