Waiting On Jehovah First Mentioned?
by Ron.W. inyes, waiting on jehovah for him to handle a problem/ doctrine etc.. when did the jw's first start saying that?
they've been saying it as long as i can remember.. what scriptures do they trot out to back that teaching up?

I seem to have a distant memory of letters from the branch to people who asked perplexing problems being told to 'Wait On Jehovah'..not sure when they first started replying with that phrase though?

Depression & Isolation

Many thanks for your very honest post.
I won't use this post to criticise anything about being reinstated or going back to the meetings.
When I felt really low when attending meetings I used to do a few very simple things that seemed to help.
When entering the kingdom hall I tried to give the warmest welcome ever to the first three people I encountered.
Then, in the hall seek out the older widows, and go and say a friendly hello and ask them how their week has been.
Do this for a month or two and then you will then bump into people in the hall you have been friendly with and invariably some will become friendly to you and things seem to start getting easier.
Ask who is ill or long term sick in the hall. Visit them, Ask them how they are coping - listen to them.
When you get to know them better, maybe give them a call on the telephone to have a chat with them.
These are just the things that have helped me. I appreciate they may not be for you.
Although I have been brought up in the truth and now long faded, in the past I have returned to a new hall after being disfellowshipped and also moved to two other new halls both with family and totally on my own, so I know how hard it can be.
Also, there was a wt/awake article that suggested getting professional/medical help advice when you feel as you do.
Just can't remember the year/reference sorry -

Conversation with old friend

we talked about the recent changes in the 2023 annual meeting.
i especially pointed out the one about getting rid of hourly reporting on monthly time slips.

Those posts are so moving when you think of the complete waste of quality time and life these ones could have had.
The heartfelt apology from the governing body about these massive policy changes on reporting time will go a long way to appeasing these lifelong rank and file jw's...
Oh, that's right, they are not going to apologise for any changes they make and they are not sorry for the wasted opportunities and lives their pathetic reporting system has perpetuated... .

Yes, for me too, all these recent changes pale in comparison to the “overlapping generation” teaching. What on earth was that? I genuinely tried to understand what they were saying but it hurt my brain.
Yes, I've watched a guy on youtube called Robert ring elders around the UK and ask them to explain the overlapping generation to him biblically - they literally all squirm, get defensive and then refer him to the jw website - it's hilarious and embarrassing and pathetic at the same time!!

Glaring contradiction between 1995 new light and Society's authority as FDS
by yaddayadda inin the 15 october 1995 watchtower the society brought out 'new light' that although christ sat down as king in 1914, but he did not sit down on his 'glorious throne' mentioned at matt 25: 31 in that year.
i cant understand why the society bothered to make this change in 1995?
this change was in some ways more damaging to them than the generation change, because the society essentially sawed off the branch they were sitting on by announcing this 1995 new light.
