They allowed it years ago ..my JW MIL came to my Dad's funeral and giggled all through it with her daughter..I guess the minister was saying something that was funny to them :) I wanted to get up an dslap them.

by QuestioningEverything inwhat is the reasoning/policy behind the practice that a jw can't attend an event such as funeral or wedding in another church?
i know of someone that didn't attend her older sisters funeral because it was held in a baptist church.
she waited outside until the service was over and then went to the family dinner afterwards.

Site Update: Feb 4, 2015
by Simon ini have found the issue with the user post-counts being incorrect and the update to put them right is running right now.
it's upto people who joined about 5 years ago so if you're more recent than that just give it a while before checking again.. i've made a few tweaks to the css to fix some issues with ie which caused the side-bar to be pushed down under the main content instead of alongside it and also the reply counters didn't have any color to indicate the busiest topics.. the snippet / topic preview options should now be a little neater and clearer.. other than that, most of the changes have been backend stuff around optimization so nothing really to see but it should pave the way for feedback on the post like / dislike voting and other goodies..

RIP: Timothy Campbell

timothy campbell died of kidney cancer in november of 2013. he started one of the first ex-jw forums, beyondjw.
i met him in person once.

Ten years later, the group of now 25 year old guys discussed where they should meet for dinner. It was agreed t ... hey would meet at Captain Jack's Seafood Grille because the beer was cheap, the bar had free snacks, the house band was good, there was no cover charge and there were lot of cute girls.

Is there a pedophile epidemic ?

it seems like everywhere you read there are more and more cases being reported.
are we becoming a nation with no morals at all?

DOGGONE, Thank you for that information about the brain and pedophiles. About your comment on child sexual abuse being lower now than ever..I just can't wrap my arms around that fact. Is that in comparison to the population today?

Subject to change..Good point about the angels..probably because they aren't subject to armageddon..it must be something in the destruction/death/resurrection that wipes out their private parts and makes them useless..
Can't help but wonder tho about the angels..what sex are they supposedly if they were chasing after the virgins.. ;) -
