My personal opinion is that sometimes they make changes simply to give the illusion of progress and that something is happening because clearly nothing really is in relation to “fulfillment of Bible Prophecy.”
How else could they maintain the fiction that “Jehovah’s chariot is on the move” when the scenery never changes?

No, but when I was an elder I got hit on by quite a few sisters even though I was married.

Funny, they never contact me and I live in one of the areas hit by the fires this week and last year.
In fact, I live less than 500 feet from the Mandatory Evacuation Zone of the Easy Fire this week. My wife and I spent the entire day Tuesday in our house waiting to see if we had to evacuate. We didn't, but we were ready with our car loaded with clothes, a "go bag" and other essentials just in case.
FYI: I was a JW for over 25 years in this area and an elder for over 20. It's been six years since I have quit attending meetings, but I still live in the same house I've lived in for over eight years.
They don't give a fuck about us that have left. If they contact us at all, it's only a show for the sake of appearances in front of the other elders.

i have been basically awake since 2013. i have a super dub wife that i love and don’t want to lose and my sick mom in the hall that is a true believer.
stupid religion has gotten between my wife and i (of course).
Just resign and absolutely refuse to tell the elders why.
They are NOT your friends.
Repeat after me: "The elders are not my friends!"
Dealing with your wife will be a lot more tricky.

I have been shunned by my two sons for over a decade. This causes me ongoing heartbreak. I try to reach out to them both from time to time, but so far to no avail.
They are both in their mid- to late-20s.
Of course, my ex-wife and all of her family shun me but I couldn’t care less about any of them. I left the religion because of who and how they are.
Let’s not forget all of the “friends that are supposed-to-be-closer-than-a-brother”!

i was ministered to by several different people at a jw funeral i attended today.
one older lady said to me, "you know the end is right around the corner, just look at the state of the world today".
i said, "well yes but that has been the mantra for decades, remember 'stay alive till '75'".
