WT Finger Pointing

do you have examples of wt style finger pointing (with 3 pointing right back).

"satans organization claims to be gods organization, and persecutes those who are actually members of gods organization.

satans organization sails under the high-sounding name of "christendom".

I can remember how we would make excuses for the WTS and GB whenever someone pointed out that the stuff we were reading and supporting sounded a lot like the same things the WTS was criticizing other religions for.

"Yes, there may be pedophiles among us. But WE report the crime immediately and we NEVER give those men privileges in the congregation! Totally different from Christendom!!!!"

Then you get away from the organization and you learn that they are just as dirty as anyone else, but they lied to you without a hint of remorse. Very bad taste in the mouth when you find that out.

They make it sound as if the governments of the world have spent the past century-and-a-half in a panic over what the JWs will say next. "If they start with this 'good news of the kingdom' crap just ONE MORE TIME, we will have to persecute them mercilessly. Then maybe we can finally get some sleep at night!"

It does seem as if the pressure is getting to him, he is lashing out at "Thai Pleasures" almost blindly. Demanding they identify themselves, referring to the 'magnificent seven' at least two or three times, trying to put them down as a filthy liar, etc. Not his usual dismissive self. So, not only can he not stop himself from engaging anyone who teases him, now he is losing his cool. Time to get more popcorn, I guess.

where your mental image of a place does not match up with where you intellectually know it actually is?

1. great britain: i always picture it to the west of france.

if i'm reading about the norman invasion or d-day i always see it in my head as crossing the channel east-west / west-east.

I love that website. It's wild to realize how distorted the flat map is. The USA is around 3x the size of Greenland but might actually be a bit smaller than Brazil. But looking at the flat map, you'd think it was the other way around.

Resuming door to door September 1st

gb worried about not enough coming to in person meetings.

what are they going to be like when they realise not only jdubs don’t want to go to in person meetings but they really don’t want to go back on the min.

zoom has so much more appeal for rather than meetings or door to door.

He still thinks that claiming that he was dating a sex worker makes him look better than admitting that he paid for sex.

2022 Convention Sat. Afternoon part 1

i found it ironic that the symposium "put away peace wrecker inappropriate boasting".

was presented by a helper to the publishing committee.

and all of the other talks were given by, if not gb members, but by helpers to the various committees.

It sounds like they are saying don't be boastful around one another. After all, don't they anticipate a time when they will go out and warn the world that it will be destroyed, with that warning delivered by the people favored by God to survive? Sounds boastful to me.

our family was always a topic on a local needs talk.

but it was funny when the brothers needed money they would come with their hands out.

this is when we lived in the states.

'Modesty in dress' may have been the one complaint we got the most, especially at conventions. The number of young ladies who wore dresses that were snug or short makes me think that they were either broadcasting their availability or (more likely) broadcasting their intention of leaving the organization the moment they were able to.

As a young man, I was not as put off by the display as the organization and the frumpy old ladies were. Which is to say, I wasn't put off at all. An attractive figure in a painted-on dress shines like a beacon in that sea of 'modesty.'

A new generation of anointed that will not pass away.

obviously, the older “ anointed ” from 1914 died.

and because they were anointed, they hopefully went to heaven.

in the first century though, a newer generation did not replace the old.

The question is when, in our lifetime?

If Yahweh has been patient enough to let things go on this long, who is to say that he isn't planning to wait another hundred years? Another thousand? Another hundred thousand?

End-times numerology frequently assumes that the end is -coincidentally- going to come during the present generation's lifetime. I want to see the reaction when a bunch of "theological numerological scholars" come up with the year 3719AD as the actual date of the end of the world.
