Today, on the news, the governor of W. Va announced that he would do everything he could to make mining safer in his state.

I just think it's horrendous they don't have a GPS type system on their hardhats and lifeline backpacks that could keep them alive for at least 24 hours. If they say it impedes work, then they could remove it but keep it near them. One article I read is that the rescue teams are 2 hours away (minimum) but their oxygen is only for an hour!!

the "freeloader" pioneer sister who lives with us asked me this morning if she could "look" up something real quick on my laptop.

i was not prepared for this and quickly told her the system was down and i would let her use it later.

how do i get rid of all the recent sites box that you can scroll down to.

Learn how to create another user for the system and make sure to password protect your username.

i can usually see the skating rink in the park below my window.. i can usually see the river between those trees in the background.

i can usually see the mountains beyond that.. as you can see, i can't see any of those things today.

I feel so sorry for these guys. The mining industry is so dangerous and yet so many men in those areas choose to mine for a living because they pay is so great in comparison to other jobs. What I don't understand is why they don't have better safety equipment or life saving packs down in the mines!! Why don't they have cell phones that penetrate or hard wired phone lines that reach that far? I mean it's not like they are blasting tons of earth down there at amazing speeds so the locations of the phones or packs would be far away.

"I mean, they can send a man to the moon but they can't make a (oxygen canister) that will last at least 16 hours," Marcum said. "That's what they need to do."

That was a quote from a news article and I agree with him! I think about those poor Sago miners and how they didn't have enough oxygen and died of carbon monoxide. Years ago there was a group of miners trapped and they had to ration out their lunches.

They have started to shun my JW wife!

my poor wife has been quite stressed knowing what to do with her life.

she has never been intellectually interested enough to study whether the wts is the truth, just went because it seemed the best way of life and her family and friends are in it.

when i stopped going she did not know what to do wanting to keep both me and the congregation happy, and becamed fairly irregular at meetings and field service.

I was married, a pioneer and attended all the meetings even though my husband was df'd and for the most part not coming to the meetings. I was an outsider because I was married --- but no one invites you over to couple nights out and you're not single so no invites coming from that way either. The elders would just pass me by with the offhanded, "Hi, how are you?" and keep walking. How would they know how I am if they don't stop????

I got so fed up with them and told the brother whose house held our bookstudy and he told the CO. I spilled my guts to the CO how unloving the elders were, how they never even knew what was going on with me and that at that very time, my ex was in jail!! One elder was shocked and he asked why he didn't know and I blasted him: Because you never ever stop when you ask me how I am!!! The CO told this elder and me that there would be a shepherding call arrangement for me............... and 3 weeks later, the CO called and asked if it happened. Nope. He called and then they called me. I told the elders when we met that it sure felt forced. How nice for them to call at the explicit direction/order of the CO!

Wow! Beautiful picture. It's going to be cold here in Corona, California. This morning at 7am, the newscaster said it was 34* here in Corona, can you imagine? Cold but clear.

Last year it snowed here and my daughter, being 4, remembers it and keeps asking when it will snow again!! She thinks it will snow every year like it did before. We'll see!

CO's talk - A People Prepared for Survival

the co last week gave the following talk, "a people prepared for survival".

he solely used an old testament example, that of the israelites preparing to eat their lamb and greens in haste and mark their doorposts with blood.

they only had a limited time to get prepared, get the sheep, cook it thoroughly before the angel of death came to kill egyptians firstborn.

Regarding your side note............the angel was not only coming to kill the Egyptian firstborn but ANYONE who did have blood on their doorposts. So, if an Egyptian, foreigner or Israelite had that blood of the lamb on their doorposts, they were spared the visit from the Angel of Death.
