Lafayette!
It's not exactly a metropolitan hub of excitement, but it is a quaint place. We bought a house in a little subdivision with one street in/out. And about 100 yards from a park.
Anyone here from the Lafayette, Louisiana area?

Was fun visiting there when I was a kid. I lived in Morgan City at the time. We used to get a cartoon show in the mornings called Polycarp, from Laffeyette. Very cajun. Good memories. You're deeper into cajun country over there. I bet you will love it. I can taste the gumbo and boiled shrimp and crab now. Oh and the fried shrimp and hamburger poboys. Yum.

Photos will be coming soon. Just so happens, Lafayette is the French capitol of Louisiana. My wife being French, makes a perfect match. We'll be there for about 2 years.
