The NEXT New Light
by problemaddict inso i am pretty sure some long timers here, as well as franz, essentially predicted the next "new light" by simply picking out the inconsistant non-sustainable beliefs that had expiration dates as to freshness.. if i am not mistaken, franz said this was the generation teaching at the time he wrote his book.. so......what do you guys think is next?
seriously..

I agree with sir as far as the intent of the changes. I would like ot think that the blood issue will turn to the individual conscience, but I don't see it happening. its so core, that it could seem as "defeat" in a sense.
Also, from recent info from elders meetings, it seems they are tightening the reigns on DF'ing even recently.
I don't think 100 years sicne 1914 means anything to an active JW. It only means something to this community. 1914 seems so core as well, it is hard to imagine it being done away with. its the semi-peripheral things like the generation, the technicalities around the FDS, the blood fractions; that seem to make MASSIVE changes while allowing them to keep status quo. So I think the perspective from us is things like the literalness of the 144K, the staunch adherance to 1914 as prophetic, and even blood, is that those teachings have had their time because they are indefensible. But that is not historically how they adjust their flock right?

My Humble Opinion of This Forum
by turtleturtle infirst off, i love frequenting this forum.
it has given me the opportunity to truly put jw stuff to the test and i thank everyone for their helpful responses.. however, i have noticed a couple things.. 1) the use of the word "troll" is completely childish.
this is no different than the name calling used by jws (e.g.

I think themes cross over. Everyone acts like the whole of this site is some sort of massive support group. Well, there probably is a section designed for support. Another one is designed for arguements, another for research. I hear Simon is working ona new site, and that may reflect those themes.
But I tend to agree with the OP. Too much name calling, to much of the "if you are here you are pretty brave" thing. Quite frankly it doesn't help the cause of this board.
I am not here because I have nothing better to do. I am here to learn, maybe help someone else, and see if we can't exit a few people. Heck i baptized about 9 in. I feel like I need to do my part to frustrate the machine and maybe open a couple peoples eyes.
Even with a JW apologist makign the rounds, they can be villified a bit much. Heck, I was an apologist on a couple other sites, and apostates acting like jerks was always an atta boy in my mind. So just figure that instead of only thinking about yourself, rise above what you are claimed to be, and work to the good of the community and the real purpose of the site overall.
Just a thought.

Is Watchtower $60 million away from liquidation?
by cedars inwatch this video, posted on jw.org.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jjvxobvi5a.

8 million from liquidating the French headquarters? I doubt that very much. It just lends sympathetic support to their cause.
Most amusing to me was that these two men called each other "SIR", and it was set up as an interview, when clearly they are both JW's.

Need advice from a female

Hey CAD,
So I disagree with the sentiment to not go to a gym, and work out at home. Working out needs a group environment to really be effective. Yoga is an exercise. it is centric with women, and can improve mood. Maybe you guys do Yoga together. I am in Cali, and the weather does help. Crossfit is a life changer. You work out in groups, it is highly intimidating at first, but the can do attitude and cult like atmosphere are great and probably something you can relate to. :)
I am not neccesarily suggesting this, but sometimes a hypersensativity to "other women" even when you are not giving them attention or being flattered by it, can be a way of trying to get attention. It can be a way of excusing a behavior that she (or he), does not want to change. It is sometimes easier to be sad and blame yourself, than it is to try to change it, think about what will make you feel better, or get your ass on a regimine.
Also, vegitarian and healthy are usually not the same thing. Most vegitarians I have know, are overweight and weak.
Try Crossfit. Explain to the owner what you want for your wife (and you), and you might be surprised. Then go to yoga together, or join her to a women only gym model. It is unlikely her appearance will rival some of these young checks she thinks look better than her, but sometimes for a woman, knowing in he back of your mind you could beat that little tramp up.......is enough.

Well.....I'm not a woman. Just wanted to clear that up. But this works both ways. Diet is more important than exercise to start. But then you can add things to it that end up challenging her. So why not take the family outdoors more? Lay off the bad food? Go hiking with her?
Hell, send her to a womans only gym and pay for some training. Then support her by cooking delicious healthy meals. Even after 3 C sections a woman can lose weight. You have to mix weights and cardio depending on her build.
and if all else fails, send her to crossfit. Crossfit is amazing, a very posative environment, and you progress quickly.

Hey Terry. I was just looking for more elaboration on your quote froma rather old link to a story about your friend who seems to be on your mind recently. :) So to keep away from blood in this context you believe refers to murder? It doesn't seem like the natural reading to me.
I then proceeded to explain to him that "keep away from things strangled" meant don't eat meat that has not been bled. But, the "keep away from things strangled and from blood" meant bloodshed. Murder.

Interesting District Convention News.....
by Pyramid Scheme ini wanted to share some news from a family friend (he is my wt mole - still an elder, hates the shenanigans, but is still hanging on for all the reasons often discussed on this site) i know the various rumors have been discussed on here, and unfortunately the rumor about the conventions being eliminated weren't true!
(what a burden on the jw community - financial hardship for a good portion of them, guilting people into actually quitting their job to attend, physically exhausting for many, etc...etc......).
anyway, he told me that the district convention is being moved to 11 weekends at the jw-owned circuit assembly hall, and they are no longer planning on renting stadiums/large facilities in our area (northern ohio/southern michigan).

Well......I don't think its an end to the DC's. But it makes sense as a cost cutting measure. In more densely populated areas, or where it still isn't expensive, it makes sense to keep the status quo.
Marvin, why would the organization be concerned about 2014? Just curious as to your thoughts.
