that the right people will be put in political positions and will eventually form a utopian society that will meet all needs and we will have equality for all?.

Why would God design a plane that was inevitably going to crash, then force passengers onto it?

Sure, he gives some a parachute, but why not build a better plane to begin with?

Not really being flippant - in plainer (planer?) terms:

Why design life, the universe, and everything such that if someone chooses not to believe in God, or obey God, or love God, or have faith in God, or [fill-in-the-blank] God, the only possible outcome is excruciating pain & death?

Seems like a design flaw - in the very construction of the universe.

Trump should absolutely keep up with the bonkers tweets.

For the sake of the GA Senate runoff elections in about 7 weeks.

Keeping this "issue" front & center, forcing the GOP candidates to campaign on "yeah, sure, Trump is nuts but we gotta keep humoring him" is undoubtedly a far superior strategy to "we need to retain control in the Senate to keep a Democratic president & house of representatives in check".

Good News Covid vaccine on the way !

latest news announcement is that there are two companies that have developed a vaccine for the covid virus which they say they will start being distributing to the public in a matter of weeks.. one comes from a company called moderna (94.5% effective) and the other is from pfizer (90% effective).

if all things go to plan you could see things return to normal once the majority of the general public is vaccinated by easter of next year.. yoo hoo .

Height of mountains before and after the flood .

it was stated many years ago in answer to how did the flood cover the top of all the mountains on earth in noah`s day.?.

and it was explained away by saying that the mountains before the flood were a lot smaller / lower than the mountains that exist today.. so there was no problem .. when the deluge began with so much volume of water now covering the earth ( water being heavy ) pushed down into the weakest parts of the earth and raised up in other parts of the earth to where we now have higher mountains than existed before the flood of noah`s day.. in other words mount everest didn`t exist at its present height before the flood and neither did any other high mountain that exists today ,the topography all changed with the noachian flood.

This was written in the late 80's so yes, the number of "dead resurrected ones" scheduled to come back has grown in the intervening 30+ years.

Yes, I remember - it's another one of those "incredibly embarrassing, but we don't have any better ideas, and we certainly can't admit we were wrong, so let's just not mention it anymore and hope no one notices" doctrines.

Collapse of JW Org - Possibly on the Horizon?

this topics get a great deal of discussion here.

what i find interesting is even some of my pimi family is embracing the reality that all is not well with jw.org and that many current jws are just going through the motions due to not having a good way out of the org.

wondering what could realistically lead to the collapse of jw.org in the not distant future?

Semi-committal reminders that it's "any day now" simply don't muster up real, genuine long-term enthusiasm, though.

Some JWs are more hepped up due to COVID-19 - "somehow" it is going to "directly lead" into the great tribulation.

How, exactly, is never explained, and of course its not an official JW doctrine.

I suspect / fear that when a COVID vaccine is developed and implemented, and the world gradually returns to "normal" (or a near facsimile of it), a large number of JWs will be very depressed and/or lose their zeal and fade away. If the world recovers from a "4 horsemen of the apocalypse" event, how can even the most non-thinking JW put any stock in WT promises of "very soon now"?

I don't think that is going to happen in the near future, but it is going to happen.

And, as others have posted, I don't expect the WT org. to "collapse", but rather slowly fizzle away. The recovery from the pandemic, due to reasons expressed above, may be a catalyst to accelerate the process.

Congregation Letter - 2021 Magazines Delayed???

we had a letter read in our cong.

last week that said the public wt and awake would be delayed during the beginning of 2021. meaning we would just use the 2020 version into 2021 and there would be no new ones at the beginning of 2021 until an undetermined time sometime during the 1st half of 2021. at least that is the gist that i remember.

it was in what atlantis provided but there was no further detail....very brief.. any more intel or speculation on this?

It's increasingly jarring - the WT article yesterday had as its centerpiece how some random university student became a JW because she took "literature" from a cart to help her write an essay.

Carts have not been used for 8+ months now, and will not be used again for at least a year, maybe many years, if ever.

In some countries, even letter writing and phone "witnessing" are not being done due to data privacy laws. There is literally nothing for JWs to do to "preach", other than bother their unbelieving relatives by phone for the 40th time in 8 months.

The "most important work on earth" has ground to a virtual complete halt. Nazis couldn't do it, Communists couldn't do it, and the JW "literature" gloated over how that was "proof" that Jehovah was "blessing them".

Now a microscopic virus has this "vital" work completely paralyzed....yet they still write article after article as if it simply did not exist.

the people who made fox what it is are starting to get sick of how its turning to the left or dark side.

this would give trump a voice and keep alive real journalism.

Absolutely 100% guaranteed to happen. I'd bet my house, car, and 401K on it. That was his plan since 2015, before he unexpectedly won in 2016.

There is a huge market for "aggrieved white guys complaining about how life is so, so, SO unfair" and "let's pwn the libs". Trump is ideally suited to fill that....that....I was going to say "niche", but I think "big honking canyon" fits better.

It is such a lucrative market, why, even a guy who bankrupted a casino could make money from it.

Many Jw’s Love to Speculate About the New System

a comment on another thread cracked me up where the poster related what some elder said on the platform that: .

in the new system, we likely will not have genitals.” lol.

i’ve heard so much speculation from many jw’s on what will and won’t be allowed in the new system.

I always laugh at all the modern conveniences that show up in the "new world" - lumber cut with laser precision, plastic beach balls, gigantic panes of glass in the windows of the mansions every resident will have, etc.

None of which would be possible without the intricate, sophisticated, polluting, capitalistic infrastructure present in "this wicked world", not to mention the millions of people who would have to work the same types of boring, repetitive jobs to sustain that complex industrial-grade system.

You can't have all the plastic balls, beach umbrellas, leather shoes, metal belt buckles, etc. shown in their drawings for the billions of "resurrected ones", while simultaneously the only occupations in the world are [farmer], [construction worker], [Bible teacher] and nothing else.

Somehow those "new world speculations" always assume that technology and infrastructure will continue uninterrupted at 21st century USA-level standards.
