Learning To Believe Again
by The_Seeker ini was raised a jw and left the organization when i was 18 years old.
many thought i left because i wanted to live a life full of drugs, sex, and rock and roll, which was not true at all.
i left because i realized that these people had no idea what they were talking about and were simply parroting what the, " society " , told them to believe.

The wonder of scientific research
by amicabl inthis has possibly been brought up before however here goes.. constant reference is made by many posters to scientific research as being the only way to prove something factual that would otherwise have to be taken on faith.
there actually seems to be "faith" in scientific findings.. my experience over many years is that most scientific research is fake.
nothing oftencomes of the big announcements made to raise more money.. money, prestige, pride, human error, suppositions etc., are rife amongst the scientific community.. i realise that there have been many advances over hundreds of years but humankind is in a mess, although very different to even a century ago.. the medical profession now has vaccinations for everything, antiviral drugs etc.

amicable, well said. It is really sad to see potentially attractive people becoming obese never living the lives they could have had, and the responsibility has to laid at the door of those that desire and provide easy profitable food production via chemicals.
Even the population pressures we see developing are the result of curing the world's disease and nutrition problems (done for benevolent motives), without also instituting reproduction control, that can be done. look at the one child policies.

Snowflakes seem to be the work of artists. We know exactly how they form without intelligent design. cofty
Or the work of a child with a compass tracing out the radius on the circumference creating a hexagon pattern. like in evolution, recurring patterns are used over and over again, and are often elegant and economical solutions. but
just because we, after billions of years without our input, are now discovering how it all works, does not mean it was not work in the first place.

aerodynamic, I am totally with you. I suspect that those that champion total, unfettered atheism, have not been active , compulsive or compulsory creators, like you , engaged in "eyeball engineering".
It is hard to create a functioning universe. particularly one that seems to run without further tinkering. to those think otherwise: you try it.

A case can be made that there might be non-biblical messages from a creator,
Go on then...
We have been through this before, and some of my observations on astronomy, which is a harder, more precise science than biology, have been criticised on trivialities. but creation in general seems to have the imprint of an artist. the most economical solutions are not the ones that have emerged from the evolving universe.

Venus, some the most seminal breakthroughs in scientific understanding were done by an impoverished patent clerk in Switzerland. "Gedankenexperimente" thoughts are free, priceless.
Why science is so expensive is the same as medical cost. It takes a long time of hard study to learn all that has been achieved by our fore bearers.

Otwo: ---Bible actually said "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth" before mentioning light.---
If that is so, the beginning is ~10 billion years long, a drawn out start compared with Earth's ~4 billion existence.
