Very odd for a person that has not seen 1975 to be concerned about the overlapping generation.
A typical overlapping generation member as exemplified by Frederick Franz & successor is not "--getting up there in years.--", and would be only ~ 46 years old today. That teenage pioneer is well placed to see the 2075 centennial happening, when the date for Franz's newer candidate comes to pack in.
so i suffered through another one of these idiotic "encouraging" talks by tony vives.. he prattled on about loyalty, and pretty well concentrated on three areas.
loyalty to ones marriage mate, which is no problem.
if one is married they really do owe loyalty to their husband or wife.. second, he hammered on "loyalty" by having nothing to do with a df'd family member, even a child!

there is much more emphasis placed on parents to get their own children baptized rather than focusing on bible students.
they try to impress on others the need for urgency.

but, nothing shuts up an elder quicker than being shown that his action is out of thep with a given publication, date and page cited. I kept photocopies of juicy items in the front and back covers of my bible. and
P.S. wt wants you to confine any arguments to their publications, and not verify them indpendantly with the scriptures that everything is supposed to be based on, but isnt.

so i recently moved back to my really really really small hometown in the south.
it was the place that my parents moved to from a major city up north in the early 1970's.
when we lived here times were very tough financially and i was always told that the reason we did not attend meetings was due to the fact that we had no car / no gas for the car / could not afford repairs for the years we were there.
