Do not be disrespectful. This man pictured was chosen 5 years later to be the big cheese of the Faithful and Discreet Slave, on the basis of how he followed up on that "kings had their day" pronouncement. How did he do that?, by the worldwide campaign announcing:

"The World has ended, Millions now living will never die" ( page 426, of the wt book: JWs, Proclaimers of God's Kingdom )

not only did the kings have their day, the world ended. wt wisdom!

Two coins of little value? Ok! Sure (!)

last thursday meeting was the verbal begging bowl item.

in which having told the audience that wt doesn't ask for money... proceeded to then ask for money.. among the usual scriptures cited "honor god with your valuable things" etc was also the widows mite story "she dropped in two coins of little value..".

and it occurred to me, two coins of little value in the uk would be two one penny coins!

Perhaps Jesus, who after praising the widow at the temple , also declared that the whole thing was doomed , and had a hidden message? like:

There is something wrong here, even two pennies is too much?

"The kings had their day" , this idea, that the rulers: Kaiser, King and Zar, and your local dogcatcher were now illegitimately hanging on to their power, may have been behind the unscriptural teaching introduced circa 1929, that these were not the "superior authorities " of Romans 13, but that J1 and J2 were.

It took wt ~60 years to legitimise the "worldly" governments again. This flip flop indirectly acknowledging that Church doctrines migh be right, wt wrong.

"Circumcision is a sign to set you apart from the people of the nations"

we know that the hebrew scriptures, or old testament states that the practice of circumcision (of males) was supposed to be yet another sign that set the jews apart from the "people of the nations".

but apart from so many odd things, how dumb is this?.

i mean, how did someone know if a male was circumcised or not??

The word for naked in greek is gym. so you were expected to strip before entering it. Not a good idea today in your high school setting or in germany where aome high schools are referred to as Gymnaseums. Gymnastics no sans gym.

if it is the anointed, they must pass away before all these things happen

so in the october jw broadcast, there is a "morning worship" segment in which g. jackson goes to great lengths to explain how the term "those taking the lead" are not "leaders".. the terms are exactly equivalent, of course, but jackson, with a wink & smirk, pats himself on the back for his own cleverness on how different they really are.it's just so bizarrely absurd.. imagine if such tortured reasoning were applied to other areas..... -------------------------------------.

restaurant manager: i'm sorry, the only position we have open is for dishwasher.

applicant: that's insulting!

That does not prevent some really inflated egos to take on that role, doing a minimum of work and barking (thinly disguised) orders from their haughty position of oversight.

Halloween/holidays

didn't know exactly which subject area to put this under, but i was curious about what you guys do around this time for holidays, particularly halloween.

my view on halloween in particular has always been as this pagan, demonic celebration.

even now that i discovered ttatt i still feel the same way i do about halloween, i don't ever think it's something i'd celebrate.

since Ha low ween is fiction, like Santa, the bible, why perpetuate the fantasies into our young ones? how about reality based fun?

elon musk believes we are and he's a pretty smart guy that runs spacex, a lot black hole physics may seem to present the 3 dimentional space as a hologram of a 2 dimentional sphere.. i think this is open for serious debate.

This new scientist article contains the idea that such other-dimensional representations of reality is what takes shape in our minds. This link is to add to sbf's comment:

The article argues that 7 dimensional structures are created in the brain to establish perhaps even consciousness.

Need help understanding the Overlapping Generation teaching

so this is a topic that seriously boggles my mind and please correct me if i'm wrong.

to me, the jw definition of the overlapping generation teaching is that the lives of the anointed from 1914 overlap with the lives of the anointed right now.

david splane used the example of fred franz and how he finished his "earthly course" in 1992 but while he did, he had a lot of "contemporaries" that outlived him and are currently living today.

I believe the bible only to the extent that it exists. Just its first verse contains an error of 10 billion years. that is 10 decimal places. but

as a debating evidence to disprove current wt doctrines it serves well.

"Idiots" might be the wrong word, the billions that were swindled from jws, were not earned by idiots, but hard working striving individuals, not mental vegetables.
