so here is something i've been wondering about.
how do the 'anointed' come to the conclusion that they are chosen?
is it some weird collective delusion of grandeur and how is it manifested in such ones?.
I was always told that they got to know a "special song" that only anointed ones would just spontaneously get in their head and that would be their evidence of being a chosen one. This was because of Revelation 14:3
3 And they are singing what seems to be a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders, and no one was able to master that song except the 144,000, who have been bought from the earth.
hi can anyone tell me if it's true the society says parents must take their child to meetings until they're 16 even if they don't want to?
my ex is being a pain about me not forcing my 12 year old to be a witness.
he doesn't know i'm becoming inactive at moment so i have to be careful how i word things to him.
If they are happy to baptise children as young as 7 and hold them to this life choice for the rest of their lives then they must also accept that children as young as 7 can choose never to join the religion.
When I was growing up and not wanting to go to the meetings I was told that as long as I live under their roof, I would need to go with them and do as I was told.
i'd like share why i went from being a teenager determined to work in full time service for jehovah my entire life, to now being on here commiserating with you all.
i use to be an atheist but i now believe in god.
but i'm not preachy about god.
What a story. Unfortunately yours is not a unique experience and for this reason it is obvious to me that Jehovah and/or his spirit is not with the JWs at all.

most hard to swallow meat and fish (that i was aware of) that i have ever eaten is rabbit, but also deer, octopus and eel sushi.. how about your meat eatings?

I don't mind Kangaroo if it is cooked properly.
I have had crocodile which I found to be very fatty and I wouldn't eat it again.
I have had snails a few times. I liked them in their shells with garlic butter but the ragout of snail I had in a French restaurant was awful.
Also had Buffalo on a Barbecue once. Very gamey but I liked it.
First time I had quail I was hesitant as it was so small and reminded me of my pet bird but I do quite like them.

i found this site cause i've been looking around at experiences of people leaving 'the truth' as i've been wanting to leave for some time now.
it's interesting as y'know i'd never seen it from the other side as its apostate literature and all that jazz lol.
Considering you are still at home I would keep it quiet until you have a plan and means of escape - somewhere to go and be able to fend for yourself.
As has already been said, if you have family and friends that you still want to be able to speak to then just move out when you can and stop attending meetings.

of course, once you find a pile of pictures or papers, you start looking through them.. i found a small pile of magazines, mostly from 1987. some kingdom ministries, written reviews and a few 1985 -'86 awakes.
i guess 1986 was the last year the magazines were printed in that pastel range of orange, pink etc.
Growing up there was an elder in our hall who would take "vacations" from the truth with his family. They wouldn't go away. They would be at home but would not take phone calls from any in the congregation and if you went to see them they wouldn't ask you in because they were taking a holiday from their every day Life.
hi does anyone have any ideas of good places for me to make non jw friends when i move coz need to replace all my jw friends for my kids and i ready for becoming inactive.
I have met some lovely women just waiting at the schools for my children. A couple of these have become very good friends.
Children can make friends at school and it's a good chance to get to know their parents.
i have had some conversations with ex-jw women and i am more than a little concerned at how, if a female, is treated in committee meetings.
it sure seems (i experienced this when i was young) that the elders have a commonality in trying to create such shame and sexual guilt (especially where none is deserved) that it is beyond abuse.
i know there are a lot of former elders here.
I think in general the Jay dubs are obsessed with sex.
My son has a girlfriend from school and the only thing my mother could think to say along with that facial expression of disappointment was "at least you are the parents of the boy if she gets pregnant".
WTF moment for me. Why assume they are even sexually active? Because only JWs have morals - so they think.
i wrote her a text message telling her not to contact me anymore.
found out that she went back and told my mother some stuff about me.. i shouldnt have never given her my phone number....she's my next door neighbor.. she would always ask if i was going back to the kingdom hall, i would tell her no...people know that i'm not going back to the kingdom hall, and they still think that i'm going back.. i'm planning on moving from my hometown in 2 years and i cannot wait to leave!!!!
so tired of people still thinking i'm a j-dub, i've told people i havent been to the kingdom hall since 2011, and they still think i'm going back.
For those of us that fade our friends and family will always hold out hope that we return. The constant requests that we do so is the price we must pay to be able to continue having a relationship with our families.
