Jesus was the manifestation of god in the flesh.
You are saved by grace not works.
All true christians are the body of christ ( the church). Its not an organizational or denomination thing.
i cannot think of a single doctrine that is so clearly laid out in the bible that every christian sect teaches the same point.
are there any doctrine where there is total consensus amongst all christian religions, including jehovah's witnesses?.

my active and in jw wife is up for reading bible together.
thing is she wants to use nwt.. i have problems with that translation as you my imagine.. just wondering if you thought the true message of the bible will shine through the deliberate tampering of the nwt?.
i know many people here don't like or want to read the bible and think it's rubbish anyway, so if that's you, you can save your comments :-).
The bible is extremely boring and quite complex. I really hate when people say reading it is so life changing. Some parts of it are done right nasty. I actually have a so called childrens niv with warnings to say out of parts of the new testament.
I do enjoy listening to academics and real scholars talk about it. It is quite interesting if you deal with people who know what they are talking about.
The problem i have with nwt is it tries to isolate and obscure single verses assuming the reader doesn't know the intent of the authors. New testament writers believed jesus was the physical manifestation of jehovah god from the old testament. There is no big picture in the nwt.
Its so stupid, its not even the bible.

lately i have been really interested in the idea of who jesus was in the in old testament.
i have reading an author named michael heiser who generally believes anytime there was a physical manifestion of god in the old testament it was a pre incarnation of jesus christ.. i was reading the first chapter of jeremiah there is a figure called " the word of jehovah appears ".
this actually happens in a number of places in the old testament.
Wow
Just wow
The average jw really has no concept of why some believe he was jehovah in the old testament.?

I check my nwt and see if any of these appearances actually reference Jesus being called the word of god or the visible image of rhe invisible god in the new testament.
Not a single reference lines up in the nwt.
Not saying it really matters or does the average jw even read or care about the bible but to me it is one of the more tangible ways to prove how dishonest the wts is.
I have seen so called bible studies centered around a single verse only found in the nwt, usually something trying to disprove the diety of christ.
It makes me feel i am in the god damm exorcist.
Yeah i do believe in the devil.
So no one has ever went to the memorial and felt liked they were at slayer concert.
When i was younger i had an interest in the occult. Not that wanted to practice it ,i just thought it was interesting. The more i learned the majority of it wasnt actually rooted in devil worship, it was just extreme atheism rooted in mockery of all things Christian.
I kind of see the same things rooted in the wts .
Once you woke up did see mockery?
From the memorial to the new world translation to the general stupid things said in the hall it seems like some bizzaro world where some supernatural entity controls everything in an attempt to mock god.
look at this graph:.
it has the % difference between the peak number of publishers and the average number of publishers for that year.
this number can only be positive.. what the graph tells us is that there is a clear trend towards hunting down inactive and/or irregular publishers.
I think it is silly how jws have reduced their religion to a fantasy football league. Pretty some they will issue governing body trading cards and provide over under on number of baptisms at each assembly.
Screw it. The world us full of lonely and stupid people. Pay them no mind.
my husband and i recently moved back to our hometown so we are back on the radar for the elders.
we have been happily inactive the last few years.
the other day a brother, who was once friends with my husband, and a substitute circuit overseer stopped in my husband's work for a shepherding visit if they still call it that.
I was actually in the hall when did they did the marking talk about my wife and me dating. I have never lost respect for another human so quickly. I was literally was ready to throw fists.
In the long run it took alot of pressure off me with my wife no longer pressuring me attend.
Opps wrong thread
