  last night at the meeting, a local needs talk preempted the regularly scheduled part.

  an elder who is the most society following elder talked about loving god and then he talked about bible principles such as marry only in the lord.

  when i studied as a young adult, it was in one of those congregations.

  having viewed the religion as a quaint little band of christians it conpletely dumbfounded me when i was told about such rules as 1 - no beards.

  2 - you must wear a suit to meetings and while giving a talk.

  My wife went back to her first cong the other day because we went to visit my parents. The elders are notorious dickheads. Even other dubs have told us please don't judge us all by that Cong.

  After I asked her how many children were there in attendance. She said none. Literally the entire Gen x generation has been disfellowshiped. Those assholes are kind of the good guys. Even almost got my wife to leave.

  It's this hip and cool new cong that scares me more.

  They changed the meaning of the fds in 2012. It just means the governing body now.

  I think they figured out no one knows are even cares about theology so they just fired the 144000.

  Jesus Christ dead for three days and three nights really?

  has anyone done a detail research on this subject?

  the gospels seem to contradict one another and christians apologists have a bunch of different ways to try to explain away the problems.

  has anyone have a concrete explanation for or against him truly being dead three days and three nights as the story goes?.

  In the old testament there are certain compartments to sheol. For good people isn't a nice place, for bad people it is a crappy place.

  When Jesus went to sheol he cleaned it out for three days and sent everyone to there final resting place.

  According to mainstream Christianity.

  I just love seeing dubs explain who Jesus didn't exist for three days. It's funnier than the overlapping generation.

  or what is the point of all this time with the new understanding of the faithful slave.

  It pisses me off each and every year to go to the memorial , listening to some talk about how the entire new testament isn't written for them because of some vague verses in some insane book of the bible.

  Yet not a single speaker could explain the book of Romans.

Of course I asked my typical questions about " do you actually know what the new covenant is ? or what is the point of all this time with the new understanding of the faithful slave.

  Of course I just got revelations based answers which I have learned not to pay no mind too. There was a time in life when I seriously studied this stuff till I realized its a basically just a wild card in the study of biblical theology. You can basically make the book of revelations say whatever you want too.

  When did you realize the WTS is just creating a new religion out of the most debateable parts of the bible ?

  Also when you do something like change the meaning of the faithful slave, what the hell do you really get out it ?

  Jehovah's witness doctrine on "only 144,000 are born again" easily debunked!

  these verses in particular were an eye opener for me.

  of course in the jws i thought only 144,000 are truly born again and are part of the new covenant but the bible says else wise.

  i know most here will disagree with me but try to have a open mind here :).

  I just got back from the memorial and just got that cock and bull story how God picks out his born again.

  Then I started to think isn't the whole new testament essentially the story of becoming the new person in Christ?

  It's really amazing the amount of dogma they can pull out of the book of revelations with ignoring the rest of the book.

  I think the slippery slope arguement of not going after hate groups and family destroying cults is a paranoid American fantasy.

  Like having the right to have an elective abortion at 8 months or owning air to surface missiles. If we can't do or own things like this, what happens next. The queen of England might kick down my front door.
