If you support the Russia JW ban, what other thoughts and beliefs are you OK with policing?

If you support the JW Russia ban, have you read George Orwell's 1984? Don't you realize you are advocating for LITERAL fascism when you support the banning of a belief system?

STOP BEING A FASCIST.

Yes, children are vulnerable in the organization.

If you're so concerned about JW children in Russia, you should realize that a ban will not save them. It will actually hurt more JW children because the organization's activity will be driven underground, further isolating them and playing to their confirmation bias that it's the "truth."

You do realize saying whatever you want when ever you want is kind of a western concept that seems quite strange to some people.

Let's say you were living in the midwest United States and every Saturday morning you would receive a knock on your door from two strange and neatly dressed people.

They tell you your church you attend is controlled by Satan, its amoral to aid in the defence of the country, the government is controlled by demons and having any political leanings is wrong.

Then they tell you there are seven magical men Moscow Russia that are a channel to God and though your works and obedience these men and the organization they lead you can be saved.

Good god the arrogance of made in the USA cults is unbelievable.

JW's condemn religions and governments and openly claim to be Gods ONLY channel on earth today. But when there arses are on the line they go running off to these Govts for support of their cause ! People love BANS these days when it involves something they don't like. Bans are not the answers to most problems. There is a new embracing of fascist ideas simply because they believe it will alleviate something the individual or group doesn't like. I do believe JWS are hypocrites for speaking out against it since they practice "banning" of dissenters, but Russia is totally in the wrong and the ban is bad.

OP, I don't think you understand your political terms correctly. I think the term you are looking for is "totalitarianism". Which can exist at both ends of the political spectrum (communists are far left and fascists are far right). The other place you can find totalitarian societies is in fringe/extremist/fundamentalist religions.

You might want to read up a little about Chechnya too. It will help you to understand that simply pointing a finger at Russia and screaming fascism is a bit myopic.

Not to hijack the thread, but I'd argue that there's a blurred line between Communism and pure Socialism. Aren't the controllers/owners of all property, business and/or residential, in a purely Marxist state for all intents and purposes the state itself?

I think so too.

The only way that a person can stand up against a totalitarian society is to get rid of the roots of it. And that includes standing up for the rights of everyone in society, not just those who want to step on everybody else's rights.

Freedom of religion stops at the point it treads on freedom from religion. And, everybody has that fundamental right too - to be free from religion. How do you satisfy both?

There is no argument. Of course the line is blurred. And, not just on the left (communist) side...the line is fuzzy on the right (fascist) side too.

Socialism is where politics are played out - it is the middle part of the spectrum where public political games are played. It is that middle sector that the ends fight over. Win the middle ground, and you win the game.

It can be defined as "a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control"... That's what's occurring. Beyond your semantics, this ban is an affront to liberty and freedom.

You wanna talk about being myopic? BANS DON'T WORK ON JWs. We already know this. Yet some think banning the entire religion is A-OK in their book.
