He's also wearing what looks like a Civil War Forage cap. Plus it's blue, and he is too. He is definately a YANKEE, and YANKEES are EVIL!!! Probably a resemblance of one of Shermans men on his march to the sea.

How Do YOU Help People Out Of The Watchtower?
by minimus inwhat have you personally done to help people come out of the watchtower?
are you actively speaking to your friends and/or family about what you now believe?
were you disfellowshipped for speaking out against jehovah's witnesses?

Thats a good set of questions. And of course i think it differs somewhat with each individual. I've tried talking to quite a few, and some will nod their heads like they are listening and remain fairly quiet, while others are downright hostile from the start. I'm not sure exactly where to start, but i dont think i would start with doctrines. Maybe just ask them to name one phrophecy the org. predicted that came true. Or remind them of some flip-flop teachings like organ transplants, or tell them about the blood issue teaching (refer to Franzs second book)
As i am writing this, i am currently faced with this same situation. Even though i am shunned by most local JW's, a middle aged couple moved back to the area just recently, and i knew them from my childhood. I ran into the guy about 2 months ago, and we talked at length. I could tell by his conversation, he was now very active, so i shyed away from the topic. I dont think the locals have warned him of me yet, because we both lived in a different town than we do now. But 2 days ago, his wife called, and said they would take me and my wife out to eat if we would go to the circuit overseers talk with them. I am supposed to call them back, and yet i am hesitant, simply for an absense of words. What do i say, and where do i start? Of course, i wont take them up on the offer, but would really like to see them again......i think.

Satan Claus

In response to the Santa Clause thing, heres my two cents:
Yes, i partially agree with others that much importance is given to Santa this time of year, when the Christian Focus should be on our Great God and Saviour. Even though he probably wasnt born on Dec.25th, So what? Does that void christians of their responsibility of remembering the Greatest Gift ever given? And yes, he should be worshipped 365 days a year, but dont give me that line about it being wrong to lie to your kids about Santa. Most of us who were JW's used that same line, but we didnt refrain from telling them that Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck wasnt real. I think comparing Santa to Satan is definately stretching things quite a bit. Maybe for unbelievers kid's he is a distraction from Jesus,(somebody to hope in) but to believers kid's who are constantly reminded of the ransom, he is not. I would hope most kids old enough to understand something about the importance of Jesus, could tell the difference between Christs ultimate sacrifice, and a few toys.

A Physicist's view of the WT future
by jst2laws injust a little experience i had this week.

jst2lws,
I noticed in paragraph 13 it talks about websites that are disguised as JW sites, but are really lurking apostates. I dont surf the net alot, but i've never seen a website listed as an official JW site, only to be an ex-JW site. Did miss something here? Or is it just typical WT propaganda?

Brothers are really weird sometimes. Mine hasnt been to a meeting in 10 years, was never baptized into the org, and is a member of the Masons, and yet he informed me 3 days ago, that he might not be able to make it for x-mas, because its a pagan holiday, and it wouldnt be right. ummm ok. Go figure. He even helped me decorate the tree last year. I just told him "whatever" and ill leave it at that. I think the ole mentality is still inside him, covered under layers of guilt or something. I think the folks are working on him.
I've tried talking to him quite a bit, and just when i think im breaking through, he'll go right back to the JW mode of reasoning, even though the rest of the time, he's slamming the org.when it suits him.

The Judgment Day
by Calvinist02 inwhat are you going to do when you get judged before the lord.... romans 2:12 .
"for all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.".
revelation 20:13.

Myohnseph, it sounds like youre comparing yourself to other people, perhaps to justify yourself in some way. This is a completely normal thing to do, looking at life outside the Gospel. Something we all do in one way or another. Point to others faults that seem much worse to somehow justify ourselves. Unfortanately, in Gods eyes, we are all condemned if left to stand on our own merit. "None is righteous, no not one". I'm counting on my attourney, the Lord Jesus, to stand up when i get called in before the judge, and say, he's with me, and the Father says "Not Guilty".
What you pointed out about the Ark, and those who perished simply shows who is in control of Salvation. Were it left up to me, i would be like those who drowned in the flood. But that story shows that God will have mercy on whom he will have mercy. The poor pitiful God of arminianism, a God who Loves everybody, and wants to save them but cant, is not the God of the Bible. He is the God who IMPUTES righteousness, not the God who looks for some kind of righteousness in his creatures. Rom.4:6 "Even as David describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works."
Rom 5:1"Being JUSTIFIED by faith..."

Religion is good for you!! Really!!
by Soledad inhttp://channels.netscape.com/ns/news/package.jsp?name=religious_people/religious_people
do religious people really live longer?the answer seems to be a resounding yes, if you believe 42 scientific studies that examined the link between religious involvement and mortality that were reviewed by the national institute for healthcare research in rockville, maryland.
the statistic: the people who were most involved in their religions were 29 percent more likely to be alive when the various studies were completed than were their nonreligious counterparts, reports webmd.. why?

Outside of Christ, God is a consuming fire. That pretty well sums it up for me.
As far as man made religion (anything outside the Gospel of Sovereign Grace) it seems good to those who are engulfed in it, because 99% of it is works religion. And when you are working hard at something, there is a sense of fulfillment, thinking you are EARNING your reward. But alas, in the long run, the eternal punishment far outweighs any temporal satisfaction. "There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the ways thereafter are death"

Probably another attempt to isolate themselves from the "World"
