That board colour scheme though is enough to give you a migraine! Thanks for the input. This is exactly what I was looking for. I have just softened the colors to pastels. You're right! Much easier on the eyes.....

Help me out here. . .
by Copernicus infrom a post i made on the "dear brother you know" thread, yk extracted this statement of mine:.
"it [love] certainly wasn't something that many of us here experienced much of in the wt.
he responded that: "that's not been my experience.

The only way You Know's post can possibly be correct is if his definition of "love among God's people" is:
"Going out of your way to join and belong to the right clique." -

Bonsai Kitty
by suzi mayhem inok.. i know i've been a bit of a buster in the past, but this is for real.
there is a site out there, and apparently a demand, for modified housepets.
in a nutshell, what these ahem... [people] do is take a kitten, sedate it, insert the poor thing into a glass bottle with air holes drilled into it, and run tubes into it to feed it, and tubes into it to take care of everything else.

I personally think that rap artist Eminem should write a rap parody in his ever popular style to teach today's youth how to cram kittens into Mason jars.

i saw your post re: moonies.
in my paper today was an article with that title on the header.

You're darned right I'm sensitive! I would never sleep with a man who's taken a vow of celibacy. (Besides, most Archbishops are homely and elderly, and I'm not attracted to that sort of man.)
"Moonie", eh? Hmmmmm..... maybe I oughta start a cult..... Nah! Been there, done that! -

Slightly off topic, but as you know my father was a Presbyterian Minister.
My father was the original Rev. Moon!!! - the other guy just stole the title.... -

Dear Apostates, just suppose....
by TheApostleAK in...that the watchtower bible & tract society really is jehovah god's earthly organisation.... wouldn't that make you all "vessels made fit for destruction" (romans 9:22 - 24) by being opposers of jehovah god and his true organisation?.
just making this warning so you can't complain to jehovah god when his "fear-inspiring day" (joel 2:11) comes that you weren't told.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
this message has been brought to you by the watchtower bible & tract society.

"Just making this warning so you can't complain to Jehovah God when his "fear-inspiring day" (Joel 2:11) comes that you weren't told."
ApostleAK, some of us view as "fear-inspiring", not the Day of Judgement, but the thought of spending eternity with the likes of self-righteous, pompous, holier-than-thou Jehovah's Witnesses. While I personally do not find the idea of immortality without appeal, I would think it only fair that I be given a say in whom I may spend the rest of forever with. -

This hit a little too close to home
by mommy inthe following appeared in the newspaper this morning:.
a 17-year-old highlands school student was in jail thursday on charges that he had developed a hit list, naming several fellow students he supposedly planned to kill.
highlands police say they arrested andrew douglas quintero, a junior, without incident on wednesday and charged him with 10 misdemeanor counts of communicating threats.. in an interview thursday, highlands school principal jack brooks indicated he wasn't sure whether the student intended to carry out the threats, but said he wasn't taking any chances.. "whether this was done out of humor or it was an expression of anger, i had no idea," brooks said.

I think jimmyjames hit the nail on the head when he mentions the responsibility of parents.
Two buildings away from where I live is a small boy (maybe 4 years old) who screams so loud he sounds like he is being tortured. Even with my windows closed, I have to turn the volume up on my television set just to drown him out. I have seen him playing out in the middle of the street unsupervised. I will be surprised if he lives to his tenth birthday.
The older teenaged boys in my neighborhood can often be found behind the dumpster in my building smoking crack. I've called both my landlord and the police, but nothing seems to deter them. They drive around in cars with speakers so loud the walls in my apartment shake. Wouldn't it be ironic if their precious "rap" is what made them go deaf?
The point I'm trying to make is that I see absolutely no parental supervision in this neighborhood, and it is a very uncomfortable place to live (and at $1200 per month rent, let me assure you I do not live in a low income area!).
Wendy, I don't think that "Leave It To Beaver days" ever really existed. I was raised in the '50's and '60's, and I was a little hellian myself, but even the worst of my friends did nothing of the magnitude I see children doing today, and it's frightening.
If parents do not offer children any love and guidance, they're going to look for it elsewhere. They will look for it in their peers. They will look for it in the music and entertainment they are exposed to. Too many of the children I see today are starved for love, and their threats of violence (which are occasionally carried out) are them screaming at the top of their lungs in desparation wanting nothing more than to be loved. -

Homosexuals and Evolution
by patio34 inon monday past, the la times health section had an article on homosexuality, especially the traits visible in young toddlers.
it also delved into possible causes of homosexuality and the latest research and theories.. there was an interesting comment in the article something like "it's a peculiarity in evolution that homosexuality occurs because it precludes procreation.
" in evolution, whoever produces the most offspring are the ones who pass on their genes.

"I find it fascinating the attention this subject gets on this message board. The topics just keep popping up, and get 40-50 or more replies too."
What I find fascinating is that the few homosexuals who are active on this board (myself included) are not the ones who start the threads. We merely reply to them.Upon examination of Watchtower literature, I may have discovered the answer:
From 1961 through 1993, Watchtower publications mention the word "homosexual" 520 times, and the word "homosexuality" 631 times! Could it be that the Society is subconsciously introducing an obsession with the subject into its membership?
