JW Elder quits & sends 900 emails
by snare&racket inan elder in quebec, has just quit as a jw.
he did so by emailing nearly a thousand jw’s with the explanation for why he and his family are quitting.. i have spoke to him quite a bit, interesting guy.
he’s quite the loss to wt, he’s an elder with a serious career in chemistry, a professor no less.. catch his story here, apologies if this has already been posted;.

Have the Kingdom Hall's discontinued using mailboxes?
by longgone inabout one month ago, i sent my disassociation letters out, one was addressed to their headquarters in ny.
(usa) and three were addressed to the kingdom halls in my area.. now the strangest thing has happened, two of the letters that i sent to the local khs were returned to me by the post office labeled "return to sender-no mail recepticle-unable to forward.
" one came last week, and another one today.

About one month ago, I sent my disassociation letters out, one was addressed to their Headquarters in NY. (USA) and three were addressed to the Kingdom Halls in my area.
Now the strangest thing has happened, two of the letters that I sent to the local KHs were returned to me by the post office labeled "Return to sender-No mail recepticle-Unable to forward." One came last week, and another one today. The third (and most important) was addressed to the Hall I formerly attended, it hasn't been returned but it would seem it will be any day now.
I wonder why there aren't mailboxes at these Kingdom Halls, or is this a standard practice everywhere now?
I hope that the one I sent to NY is sufficient in itself, and the local Kingdom Halls will be informed. I just want this local bunch to stay away from me, I thought this would take care of it. 😟

Overlapping Generations
by JRK ini remember when that came out, my mother didn't catch it in the original article in the wt.
it was in one of the review "do you remember" thingies that she caught it.
she asked me if it means what she thought it meant.

My thought is that although there was no mass exodus immediately, it did make many JW's realize that the organization invents new lies in an attempt to cover up their old lies! Armageddon was supposedly around the corner and still is after over one hundred years. 😒
I gather this from how often it comes up on this forum as one of the reasons that people begin to wake up and leave eventually. It made no sense to me so I started questioning everything else.(Officially disassociated myself last month.)

My JW Elder Brother Passed Away
by minimus inhe was basically a good man, just a believer in the religion.
when we were both elders we were best of friends and then things deteriorated when i was not an elder for a while.
then after becoming an elder again, i slowly drifted away from the religion and he drifted further away from me.

What Is The Most Ridiculous Thing You Have Heard From A Witness?
by minimus ini remember an elder questioning a woman who had admitted to giving and receiving oral sex from her unbelieving mate.
he asked her the most intimate questions which clearly flustered her.
interestingly, she “confessed “ to the elders because her conscience bothered her.

Sunday morning Watchtower lesson.
The scripture about the feminine vessel being the weaker one was cited in the paragraph. A sister commented that a man is strong like a beer stein and a woman is like a fine crytal glass...😒😒

Follow up on my question yesterday about being df'd for being disrespectful to elders.
by longgone ini really have appreciated the suggestions on how to respond to the elders recent behavior of attempting to find a way to disfellowship me and trying to push their way into my home by force.
thank you it's been most helpful to see many different perspectives.. the following post is lengthy as i'm also addressing a related topic to anyone reading this site who is not a witness but even considering joining.
you will see once again how the jw religion destroys families for their own members, those who try to leave quietly, and even the family members who were raised in it yet were never baptized.

Wow! What's wrong with me? That should be obvious. You're so right, see why I get input from others??
I thought by naming an assortment of potential groups it would be ok. I'll revise.
Thank you.

As to the what I'm doing now to try to protect myself from their continued harassment and why. I agree that filing a police report would be justified. Yet the chance of a jw actually physically harming me is not great enough to publicly pursue it for one reason. It would surely get back to my family. Thus defeating my efforts to protect my father from this cultish disfellowshipping practice they are so intent on enforcing on all members. I want to leave quietly and peacefully from my end if at all possible.
The other option to request the local elders to stop would be pointless as I've made this cyrstal clear to multiple congregation members and now elders in two congregations! They would surely delight in kicking me out if I initiate another request.
Certainly my situation is far from unique. In this case I've placed a notice on my door that that says: •Private Property. •No Jehovah's Witnesses, solicitors, or religious group, etc. is to knock on the door or contact me in any way.• As far I remember only a Private Property sign was respected by them in their ministry. Hopefully it will in my case.
My other point regarding unbaptized family members is that the whole family can't be together for birthdays and holidays. Nothing new in that statement, but with my dad's age I think of the situation often.
This has deprived him and his children and grandchildren of the many occasions where the entire family could be together when everyone is off work. This is how many "worldly" families keep their ties with extended family over the course of the year or years. Not so with JW's, it's a huge loss for all, a disconnect that can't be changed.
Well, I could go on. I guess it's just hitting me so hard as the time goes by since I left. Now that I've joined my non-witness side of the family, my sisters, children, nieces , nephews , grandchildren, and so on who were either never baptized or left have couldn't become really close with the JW family group including my father who be gone before long.
We're all missing out on what could be amazing, we love each other yet it could be much better... Again, this is not just about me and my family, it's so across the religion.
That's all, I'm just so overwhelmed with the whole package of what the Watchtower grip of " being separate from the world " including worldly family has done and continues to do every single day. Over as out. 😥😣

Lots of good suggestions! One thing that sometimes helps me is early in the evening I'll Google pictures or paintings of places I've lived or visited that made me happy. This brings those good memories back. 😊
For example, I might type in "Paintings of Florida Gulf Coast beaches," and it's right there just as I remember it! This makes it easier when I'm actually in bed to visualize being there. Hope this helps, sweet dreams. 🌛
