As others suggested, just thank them for their concern and decline for the time being. Tell them you will call them when you are ready. And I agree with your last post -it is not always so easy for everyone to just walk away. I only have my wife still in, and I am still amazed that I am having to deal with this stuff.

had another conversation with my wife this morning
by Crazyguy inshe was getting already for service so i asked her "how do you do it?
" "how do you still go and do all this spiritual stuff now that you know that my research and letter to bethel shows that the jw religion denies us the messiah"?
she got all defensive and disagreed again with what i wrote to bethel and then i had to step in and tell her that its "its them that teaches that we don't have a mediator in christ and were not under the new covenant".

@Crazyguy: I'm with leavingwt on this. It doesn't help. You will just be viewed as Satan incarnate and she will most likely go into full-defense mode. Having tried that, I now prefer to just ask questions about material in the current WT study article, with a confused look on my face. And then when she gets back from the meeting ask about any 'insights' provided during the 'study'.

Just curious. As a thought exercise, suppose that in 2015 the GB decided to rent out camp grounds and hold the conventions at nearby venues where horses or dogs raced. Pehaps even on the same grounds. We would have special 20 minute parts on the sevice meeting about what type of tents to bring and a reminder not to show up in a camper - that would be unloving and might stumble those who had to stay in tents. What % of the R&F in the US would show up? What % would show up in AC-equipped campers? How many would just say: F**k that and stay at the closest Marriott?
Remember, it is not that JHVH cares about the hotel list, he is only looking to see how obedient you are to his chosen channel (OK, even typing that made me gag)...

Wouldn't it just makes sense for GOD to...
by confusedandalone injust one day perform some form of miracle in front of the entire earth in which he proves he exists???.
wouldn't this be the most loving and sensible thing to do?
for instance, this coming thursday god repeatedly strikes mount kilamanjaro to the point that it reads in hebrew, "god exists, i just did this.

I'm with you confusedandalone. Why the mystery and space for interpretation and various religions. Just shoot white hot magma up everyone's ass for 60 seconds (or at least simulate it) and while you have everyone's attention just say: hey you bunch of f***ups! I'm going to put a list of requirements for decent human behavior in your pocket. Read it. Act accordingly. Your instructions are the same as everyone else's instructions (very short - love you neighbor as youself). I'll be back next month to check on things. All those who don't decide to get on-board will get more personal attention.
Since he hasn't done this or something similar, I can only conclude he/she/it is not interested or doesn't exist.

Noah's Ark and the flood
by confusedandalone inso this morning i was thinking about a few things that hit me like a ton of bricks:.
1. god destroyed the entire earth because man was evil - yet right after he destroyed them for being evil he said that he will never destroy all of manking again because the are evil.... 2. god asked noah to bring two of every kind on the ark.
then he gets off the ark and sacrifices some of these animals.

And don't forget this all happened (according to the WTS in 2370 BC). And did I mention that according to the WTS the incident at the Tower of Babel occurred some time after that? So that would leave what, 180 years (if you are generous and divide in half) for all of ancient history to have occurred before Abraham arrived in Egypt. So to summarize: the WTS is suggesting that 'evidently' all Sumerian and Egyptian history was compressed into 180 years (because before the Tower of Babel all the earth continued to be of one language - so there could not be Sumerians or Egyptians prior to that).
Notice how the WTS dances around when the great pyramids were built.

Proof of Noah's Flood - Presently watching a Documentary about Europe & the Ice Age
by *lost* infirst time i ever heard anyone say there was 'proof' of noah's flood.. very interesting,.
showed a trawler, where the team dredges regularly in the north sea - for animal bones, massive land animal bones, mammoths.. he said, originally, the bones were sent for analysis, and the dr stated, they were proof of noah's flood.. the north sea area was a land mass of dry grazing lands.
and it was very similar to africa.. many bones were found in london, of lions, hippos, etc ... when they were digging out the underground.. .

@hannes: sorry, I didn't quite get your point. Would you agree with the mainstream/accepted view of history, that Sumerian And Egyptian history as a civilization began around 3000BC? Of course, prior to that people were still living there doing their thing, just not at the same level of organization. Would you agree that at least as early as 7000BC people were living in the area of modern day Turkey and other areas in the Middle-east practicing some form of nomadic farming but still functioning at the level of hunter-gatherers? Please explain your view of history from say perhaps the end of the Ice-age to around 2000BC. Just curious....
I'm not asking for a dissertation just a broad picture from your point of view of how history played out since the Ice-age ended.

@hannes: sorry. 3114 is not any more reasonable than 2370. It is just too early in history to make sense. Suggesting 3114 is like me saying the Magna Carta was signed in 1775 and then my brother responds that this is too late/not possible and then suggest a date of 1740 instead.

I may have missed it in the ongoing dialog, but when does the OP and his or her supporters suspect that this global flood took place? Are they supporting the WT/young earth/creationists time frame of around 2370BC(E)?

Or maybe they will just go to a DC via video hookup. Just show up at the KH. Of course, a pre-determined charge to help offset the costs would be involved. All in favor? All opposed? That's what i thought.... Soon all KH's with video projectors will also have CC/debit machines in the lobby (for your convenience).

The more time I spend with "worldly people" the more I realize...
by confusedandalone in... that they actually have more of a desire to get to knoww you then jehovah's witnesses.
for years at the kingdom hall although i was an elder everyone "knew of me" but no one knew me.
i realized that i never really had a friend who knew anything about me as a person or my background.

This is exactly why I am inviting as many of our "worldy" neighbors over as possible. My wife has a great time (she is very sociable) and we don't have to sing any damn songs from the Kingdom Melodies songbook.
