more than a third of these babies die on their first day of life" - save the children international.

Enjoy it, but don't let the 'fun' part take command. Keep focused, have fun. All things in balance. I got my degree in Computer Science (finally) in 1984 after droppng out in 1977 because of having too much fun.

Still waiting for my prayers to be answered or understanding to be RE-Adjusted!
by NoMoreHustle inso about 2 years ago when i started to feel like something was wrong with the religion (jw cult) i was in, i was told by close friend to just study more & pray incessantly to jehovah!.
well after careful consideration of the steps to re-build my faith in jw cult, i would have to say that after more rigorous study & prayer than ever before in the history of mankind, nothing answered, no new enlightment!.
except for me figuring out that it is a scam!

Not much consolation, but 20 is better than 30+. Get on with it. Still some time to live if you came in early. I'm already in the geezer stage, but at least I am free.

Persecution in Russia. Poland next.
by FadeToBlack inthe wife got back from the meeting last night and told me they watched some video from jw.org about persection in russia.
lots of discussion at the hall about poland being next after ukraine.
she told me she was not going to sign anything renouncing her faith even if she had to go to prison.

@NT: I don't think this was a case of the WTBATS predicting the future. It was just local friends extrapolating as to their response in a similar situation.
@Others: regarding Russia invading anyone, I don't think it will happen. Why bother? They just have to sit back and watch the west implode. It could get interesting if for some reason the gas flowing west gets cut off this winter. I have plenty of firewood stacked, so not an issue of freezing to death for me.
I was going with the idea expressed by LisaRose - using the incident for manipulation of rank and file.

She told me she was not going to sign anything renouncing her faith even if she had to go to prison. I told her I would have no problem signing it if asked. I wasn't interested in going to prison and somebody needs to take care of the dogs. She wasn't amused.
I also tried to tell her that perhaps she wasn't getting a little bit worked up about this and she probably had nothing to worry about for the forseeable future. But she would have none of it. They apparently like to play up the drama of being a persecuted people = proof that they have the truth.

I'm with bigmac. We all need to start pushing the boundaries. I realize in the US you have already made travel arrangements, so you will just have to find a way to cope this year. My next boundary is the prayer thing. I don't feel comfortable saying 'grace' before meals. It is getting awkward.

YOUNG EARTH?
by Terry inyoung earth creationists (like dr. john morris) are taken to task in an article producing the following statistics:.
let's begin with today's population of the earth (estimated) 6,623,924,220. call it 6 billion.. now, let's go back to noah and his family after the flood.
but--let's take the baby steps necessary to get from 8 people to our goal of 6 billion.. why?

The GB gives awakened JW's 2 choices.

1. be a hypocrite.
i just came to the realization that those of us still in and who know ttatt have only 2choices.

I feel for you BU2B, but you have to ask yourself if you are willing to do this for the rest of your life. So far, my wife tolerates my fade - she probably has some hope that I will come back to my senses and get back in the saddle. Not going to happen. I allow her to have her friends over and occasionally I will go with her to some get-together (BBQ) as long as I know there will be no indoctrination sessions (WT study). I listen to their little preaching victory conversations (convinced local priest they are not a cult) and bite my tongue. I think they just view me as weak.

Noticed my old KH is using a lawn care service
by Zoos inwhen i was still attending i almost single handedly took care of the outside grounds.
i actually enjoyed it - gardening being a hobby.
but i turned in the keys to the shed about three months before i made my official exit.. .

Perhaps the elder body decided it would allow the 'friends' to spend more time in service. Or perhaps one of the elders owns a lawn service business.

Commenting At The Meetings---Did You Enjoy It?
by minimus inwas that important for you?
most people, i believe, forced themselves to give an answer.
i knew many elders and servants over the years being counseled because they rarely answered.. funny thing....my mom who is 88 cries if she doesn't give a comment.

I've seen so many brothers (mostly) get shutdown for making honest, direct experience comments. In other words, they just didn't parrot what was read in the paragraph.
