Interesting thoughts Outlaw but it's a pretty big step to go from managing your own telecoms infrastructure to support the needs of the HQ facilities in the NE US to providing ISP services to Witnesses across the world. Not impossible but I am not sure that it will go that far.

Will JW.ORG actually harm the WT Society Long Term ?
by flipper inmy son and i were discussing this yesterday over coffee.
since the wt society in previous years virtually demonized going on the internet at all for jw's - now wt leaders are doing a complete turn around or about face probably so as to " compete " or keep up with all the anti-jw websites that are out there to give the wt society point of view.. however- it very well may backfire on them as once people start doing google searches looking for jw.org it will bring up all the other websites dealing with any jw issues and in the privacy of their own homes out of curiosity i'm sure lots of jw's are going to want to check out some of these sites to see what all the " apostate " hoopla is all about.
i wonder how many jw's will do this and will it have an effect in opening more minds to other views ?

Circuit Accounts Servants Confesses how the SCAM WORKS!!
by JT inyes, i too have wondered how an assembly that is held in a fully paid for assembly hall, with no food service, could possibly have $10,000 in expenses.
i suppose the bethel speakers have transportation expenses - maybe $1000 or so.
as for rent on the assembly hall, well you have already paid for it once, why pay again?

No more literature counters?
by konceptual99 inthere is a thread on jwtalk suggesting that the latest hall designs do not feature a literature desk.
the dubs will pick up gear from a self serve kiosk in the hall, just enough for their immediate needs.. time will tell if this is true but if so then it relfects the reducing emphasis on printed material.
also, i think there is another by product.

Time will tell if this is true but if so then it reflects the reducing emphasis on printed material. Also, I think there is another by product. You don't need two or three literature servants. One brother fills the kiosk when it needs refilling and that's it. We all know how the congregations are suffering from a lack of desire to reach out. I am not saying this the is thinking but anything that means you need less willing volunteers...

Interesting figures in the latest East Pennine Hall accounts....
Operating costs....£162,975
Other resources expended £135,924, with £345k the year before and £314k the year before that, apparently for refurbishment.
The accounts from 31/8/11 says...
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Charitable activities
During the year a refurbishment project was undertaken of the assembly hall. The trustees reserved £400,000 for the work, £314,674 was spent during the year. So, perhaps they are showing almost £800k for refurb over 3 years when they reserverd £400k, which of course was not reserved from exisiting assets, it would have been asked in extra donations from the R&F.
This whilst showing assets of £6 million....

These are the public records from the Charities Commission web site on the halls in England. You can check cash on hand etc. by looking at the accounts.
The interesting one, as I have noted before, is the Surrey Assembly Hall (Haysbridge). This is the obvious cash cow. I was a little surprised that most of the other halls are showing income/expenses as roughly even, sometimes having cost considerably more in expenses than got in. A little digging in the accounts may explain why this is, for example there are some large somes put down to depreciation as opposed to specific expenses.
It's also interesting that Dudley had the same income two years running.

Blown away-- where to go from here
by All for show ini stumbled upon this website a few weeks ago due to the jw.org ridiculousness, since then i haven't been able to pull myself away.
the thoughts, feelings, and concerns i have had the past few years aren't just mine.
it's global.

Welcome AllForShow. I, and many others here, can really empathise as we are or have been in a very similar boat. I am still executing a long game after 2 years of reasearch and getting to know TTATT. Don't be in a rush to fill what you think you are losing with something else. Keep researching the alternatives until logic, reason and evidence help you decide what you think are the reasonable options. My belief in the vast majority of WT docitrine crashed down in a very short space of time but I am still working some things out thanks to years of being spoon fed my base attitudes. It can take time so don't be afraid to reasearch what you would have dismissed out of hand a few weeks ago.
Keep in touch on the site, ask questions and let us know how you are doing.

How many people were at the CA? What's the per head cost? at the Surrey Assembly hall in the UK, most assemblies are in the 6-700 attendees mark. Costs, as I recall, are IRO £5-6000, around £8-10 per head. The donations are around double the operating costs according to the accounts on the charity commission website last time I checked.

Street Work is hard! Take a look.
by Wasanelder Once inremember how we were told to engage people on the street, that standing and holding the magazines was not countable time?
those days are gone.
they have been reduced to the status of those guys on the street who hold huge "little ceaser" pizza signs and "homes for sale".

Doubt it. The Royal Mail van in the background pins this picture to the UK somewhere.
