  My interview with "Truth be Told" filmmaker Gregorio Smith

  i had the pleasure of conducting a telephone interview with "truth be told" filmmaker gregorio smith yesterday.

  he is a fascinating, intelligent person and has an intimate knowledge of the destructiveness the watchtower society has wreaked upon people's lives due to shunning, the blood ban, etc.. some two years in the making, this full-length documentary film entitled "truth be told" seeks to expose the watchtower for what it is.

  a debut screening for the public will take place in brooklyn new york on march 27, 2013. other major cities will follow.

  I am totally confoused who is the Faithful and Discreet Slave Class?

  i have been hearing and reading on websites about some "new light" jws are saying concerning the faithful and discreet slave class.

  it sounds like the same information they have been saying for years.

  i was always taught the faithful and discreet slave class is the annoited governing body members dispensing food at the proper time for the non annoited jws.

  It's true. Of course to become part of the GB/FDS you HAVE to be anointed.

  i was shocked i do not know why as i have read that the co's were doing this but to hear it with my own ears was unbelievable.

  i do not go to the meetings but my husband still does and this week is the co's visit.

  i decided that i would listen in to his talk; i swear i have lost some brain cells by doing it but anywho.. he started out by talking about the old story that has been in the wt many times about a little boy who was seven and raised a chicken and gave the money to the society.

  We got the widows two coins. Application? Do we put in out of our excess, throwing in what we can afford, or do we make a real sacrifice.

  New Light Key Points:

  · The Faithful and Discreet Slave was NOT appointed with the apostles at Pentecost 33CE, meaning that there has not been a continuous line of members of the Slave Class on the earth down through the ages. The Slave Class was only appointed for the first time by Christ in 1919.

  · The “domestics” of Matthew 24:45 are all those who are fed spiritually by the Governing Body, whether of the anointed or "other sheep”.

  · The events described in Matthew 24:46,47 now refer to Jesus coming during the Great Tribulation and giving the Governing Body their reward in heaven along with the rest of the anointed. This is a postponement compared to the last understanding.

  · The “belongings” of Matthew 24:47 refer to all of Christ’s heavenly and earthly interests.

  · Despite founding the Watch Tower Society and correctly discerning the pivotal date of 1914, Charles Taze Russell was not part of the Slave Class because he was not alive and serving at Headquarters when Christ made his selection in 1919. He had died in 1916.

  · WT 07 1/1 said the 1st resurrection began between 1914-1935 and some resurrected ones are communicating truths to the GB. The new teaching is that this resurrection will not occur until they are judged and appointed over all his belongings in the future.

  The WT triumphs here since they say both things.

  If you are doing your own research/thinking/reasoning then the elders can quote WT articles at you to make you stop.

  If you are defending the WT to outsiders, you can quote WT articles to show we are encouraged to think independently.

  It's a win-win. Put both views into writing and choose when to use each one.

  Of course the WT apologist in the link does not mention that actually, if you continue to 'reason independently' then you will definitely be cast outside the congregation as an opposer.

(Prov. 1:4; 3:21) Learning how to think and retain information enables you to acquire knowledge and skills that will be useful to you and to Jehovah’s worldwide organization. "

  Is Bad - w98 5/15 p.26 "Perhaps we are overly sensitive. We may be nursing a grievance, or we may be placing too much emphasis on independence. Thus, our Christian progress may be limited."

  Is Good - Awake! 99 1/8 p.11 "The magazine UNESCO Courier suggests that instead of fostering rejection of religious movements, “education for tolerance should aim at countering influences that lead to fear and exclusion of others, and should help young people to develop capacities for independent judgement, critical thinking and ethical reasoning.”"

  - It seems for the most part, the Watchtower doesn't like independent thinking whereas the Awake! does !

  Indeed, it is the “evil slave” who concludes that the Master is delaying. (Matt. 24:48) That evil slave is part of a group described at 2 Peter 3:3, 4. “In the last days,” wrote Peter, “there will come ridiculers” who, “according to their own desires,” mock those who obediently keep Jehovah’s day close in mind. Yes, rather than focus on Kingdom interests, such ridiculers focus on themselves and on their own selfish desires. Let us never develop such a disobedient and dangerous frame of mind!
