Not true ITguy. It has been my exp. that it copmes down to two factors, perhaps three.
One, how active were you in the congregation? If you were/are an elder, pioneer, MS, etc. it is unlikely that you can break the WT's rules and not be df'd.
Two, what kind of elders are you dealing with. Most will follow the WT's rules to the letter but sometimes a reasonable elder will pop-up and do the right thing.
Three, how long has it been since you last attended meetings or went out in service on a regular bases.
If this person were an active pioneer or even an average JW (reg. service, at all the meetings, comments, gives talks, etc.) there is no way that she could do what she did and just walk away.

How did I get away with it??
by home_and_dry inthe more i read on this board, the more it makes me wonder how on earth i managed to escape the jw's without being df'd.
i was baptized in 1990 aged 15. i was df'd in 1991 and was reinstated after only 2 months 'out' and a further 3 months of returning to the meetings.. two years after being reinstated, i knew i wanted out but couldn't bear the thought of being df'd again.
so i found a flat to rent and moved out of my jw parents home.

ex-jw's are a bunch of $&^%& style posters, all seam to have one thing in common.. they never stick around for a proper debate.. just fire away some accusations, and leave.. gets on my nerves.. why wont witnesses stay and make their point against reasoned arguments?.

by metatron ingot more information recently.. brooklyn bethel is downsizing , bigtime.. first, they are moving a lot of printing out of brooklyn.
and into "regional" branches, perhaps closer to where.
the material is distributed.

I think I see your point One. The cost to house those at Bethel must be very high. So even if you're paying your people .50 cents an hour, the cost to feed, house, etc, must be higher then outsourcing the product you need.
It kind of makes me wonder if my sister and borther-in-law who are now leaving Bethel because she is pregnant decided to leave because they saw the writing on the wall. -

My experience at the Memorial...
by Richie inthe memorial was held last night at a community center about 15 km away from the kingdom hall.
as a df'd person, i always feel more uncomfortable if the memorial is held at a location other than the regular kh, as i would otherwise know my way around where to sit in obscurity, as well as arriving just as the meeting is about to start.. well, i decided to come a little bit earlier (although not too early) - then walked inside the community center and suddenly i was standing in front of the wide entrance where practically everyone was gathered in order to get a perfect view of who were entering the hall.
needless to say, i felt like an alien, someone who did not exist at all, yet when i gazed into the eyes of many of the ones i know, i noticed that they were secretly looking at me and then quickly turned their heads away from me.

You are incorrect about your statement regarding staying overnight with someone of the opposite sex. As a matter of fact, when I was an elder, we even had an exact time that if a brother or sister were alone in a house with someone of the opposite sex, it was assumed that fornication took place. I believe it was after 2:00AM. No joke, this is true.
An indivudual could deny all they wanted but if two witnesses saw your car parked in the driveway of your girlfriend or boyfriend, you're screwed. -

What I don't understand is how on earth could it be cheaper to outsource "trucking and food" (or anything else) when compared to having the slaves at Brooklyn doing it? How could it be cheaper to pay an outside vendor to print a brochure when compared to having people whom you pay, what, $90.00 a month, and some room and board? Maybe I missed something here. Are the cut backs simply for reducing costs or are they because there is less demand for the Watchtower's publications?

It's kind of ironic how busy many good JWs are with preparing meeting parts, going out in service, building KHs, etc..all at the expense of spending time with their families.

by little_lamb_on_a_hill ini just stumbled onto this website whilst messing about on the internet and i've taken exception to quite a lot of what i've seen here.
incase you think i'm some irate jehovah's witness idiot who's been offended by the terrible blasphemy that he's read on here, i'm not.
i was raised a jw, but now i'm not one.. first of all, given the url, i thought this website was in some way affiliated with the jehovah's witness organization, whereas in reality it seems from the posts i've read that most people here are either former jehovah's witnesses or soon-to-be former jehovah's witnesses.

I only wish that so many years ago someone would have done the same for me and saved me all those wasted years serving a publishing company. -

he put in about 5 years.. anyway, i mentioned the post about lyman calling the new black brother "nigger", and he also said that it did not surprise him.. but what i found even funnier was the experience he had with dan.
dan sydlik had been staying at the bossert hotel while his apartment was getting renovated.
