As I posted on Concerned Mamas post, I am thinking about going and doing the following:

I am thinking a bottle of JD as, I shall point out, I MUCH prefer it to red wine (especially the alcohol free kind they serve). Get Matt to down the red wine and I shall fill the glass with JD, slug some back and pass on explaining that I am more than happy to share my Jack with anyone! I am also picturing some dip for the Doritos they pass around! Cheese chives and garlic dip should do the trick! Then yell Merry Passover, snog Matt, and lurch into a stirring rendition of "You'll never walk alone"!!

Great timing Reborn2002, I had just logged in to ask the same question!

I have not missed one since I was 5 yrs old...30 years ago. I am torn between two thoughts:

    1. To go out of love and respect for my JW wife...even though we have just spent many hours reasoning on the 'new covenant' issue and that ALL must fall under it to attain salvation...which point she conceeds scripturally. See discussion on this at:
    http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=24261&site=3 and
    http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=23818&site=3

    OR

    2. To NOT GO because I don't want to support an organization that propagates such a lie. I would rather the WTS stats read that 11,686,200 attended in 2002 not 11,686,201. I have a few more hours to decide...just enough time to head to the local watering hole to have my own 'memorial' celebration.

    cheers

I did my own celebration "last night" - since Wednesday is Nissan 14th according to the Jewish Calendar - not Thursday - interesting hu?

As I said on another post... yup, going. Out of respect for my JW parents. I'm not ready to let the hammer drop yet. (But I think we're doing dinner at a fancy schmancy restaurant first... I'll have my wine THEN!) : )

I finally got my invitation, last night. Pleasing my parents would be the only reason for attending. However, pleasing them at the cost of compromising my principles is unacceptable to me, and I will not attend. I did thank them for the invitation though.

Yes, I'm going I will partake at home afterwards with my husband and hopefully I can convince my kids to join us. Any scriptures you can think of to help convince my son that we all need to partake not just 144,000. I have a few in mind but I was wondering if anyone else had some I didn't know about. Maybe some points of reasoning.

Would not partake again were I to go. Was not invited to go. Would not go if I were invited.

Following Bible principles, we will avoid trying to live - or demand others to live - by an extensive and rigid set of dos and don'ts that go beyond the teachings of the Bible. The Watchtower, 4-15-02, pg 22, pp 15
