GrreatTeacher: Then, they throw in parent conference days which are, bewilderingly...
A totally true story that happened two weeks ago. I laughed my head off when told the story.
A friend of mine (xjw) just attended parents/teachers conference night with his 15 year old son (also an xjw). Young female teacher raises with the father that his 15 year son should be more sociable with the other boys in the class rather than sit with the girls all the time.
Father turns to son: Is this true?
15 year old son: Yes.
Father turns to young female teacher: Well I can explain, that's because my son is a man whore.
15 year old son (to teacher): I am.

Steve Hassan. Can some one verify if this is true.

It reminds me of two fleas fighting over the same dog ... or god in this case. So Steven Hassan has 'enemies', good! This means he stood up for someone somewhere in his life. Should he charge fees? Yes, especially considering there is not one single god out there that allows you to worship him or her for free.

Why Marrying An Outsider Is NOT A Disfellowshipping "Offense"
by Divergent inso yeah, i was thinking about this.
marrying an unbeliever is considered to be wrong, but at the same time, it is not a disfellowshipping "offense".
well, the reason is simple: there is more to gain than to lose by not disfellowshipping.

The whole concept of marriage is lost on god. Consider the following. Two devout Satanists get married in a ceremony according to the rituals of Satan, in which during the nuptuals 100 virgins are sacrificed to the lord of darkness and their blood is drunk by the wedding party. Gruesome? Yes. But the two most important questions are: Does jehovah recognize the marital arrangement? If 'no' then marriage means nothing in the eyes of god. If 'yes' then do the words of Jesus apply in which he said "what god has yolked together let no man pull apart" thereby crediting jehovah with the aforementioned satanic marital arrangement.

Awake! Magazine April 22 1970
by pale.emperor inwas doing some research this evening and i think ive found possibly the most damaging awake magazine issue the jw's could have printed.
april 22nd 1970. you can download the entire 1970 volume here: http://da-ip.getmyip.com:8080/pdf/old%20publications/?sort=d.
in this issue, the watchtower calls other religions on their hypocrisy for changing doctrine, upbeat music in their services, the clergy meddling in worldly affairs (un anyone?

A Jehovah's Witness in Brooklyn, New York, expressed the effect the changes have had on many.
"Tell me", he asked "how can I have confidence in anything? How can I believe in the Bible, in God, or have faith? Just ten years ago we Jehovah's Witnesses had the absolute truth, we put all our faith in this. Now the governing body and the Watchtower are telling us this is not the way to believe any more, but we are to believe "new things". How do I know the "new things" will be the truth in five years?"

Every generation, or overlapping generation, of the ruling class of Watchtower or Jehovah's Witnesses has released a "new light" version interpreting Revelation with themselves under the spotlight in the center stage.
The current GOD class of JWs can not resist to also declare themselves a part of so-called bible prophecy. If they don't they will go down in JW history as the only group of JW leaders that never read the bible and personally saw themselves as the subject being written about.
Arrogant religious leaders can not resist the temptation to declare themselves part of bible prophecy. In addition, arrogant religious leaders can not resist the temptation to declare the previous leaders as interpreting the scriptures wrong.

Deborah Frances-White. Always a laugh and a blast from my past life on the Gold Coast.
Deborah Frances-White is a comedian and writer. She was born in Australia after being adopted, where she was raised as a Jehovah's Witness. After graduating from university, she ended her relationship with the Witnesses and began pursuing a career as a comedian and writer.
In her Radio 4 series broadcast last year, Deborah Frances-White Rolls the Dice, the Australian-born, British-based comedian came clean about her teens and twenties when she would knock on doors as a Sister in the Jehovah's Witness. The broadcast caused a stir, not only winning her a Writers’ Guild Award for Best Radio Comedy, but also triggering a huge postbag from fellow ex-Witnesses about how they, too, had suffered in the fringe Christian organisation that she now unreservedly labels a religious cult...

The fundamental mistake the Watchtower and governing body has made is rearranging the appointment date of the "faithful and discreet slave" by placing it after the formation of the Watchtower corporation and not before as it traditionally was. This makes the JW religion a tool of the Watchtower and not the other way around. The net result being the Watchtower controls the religion and as such the actions of the religion are in fact the policy directions of the Watchtower corporation.
The dissenting judge was technically wrong in this case as a so-called private "bridge club" that, for example, operates under the auspices and total control of a casino corporation and its board and with all financial proceeds given to the casino, is not private club. However, a congregation is not a private association. If it was really private then it could not qualify for charity status as it only exists to serve itself and its members and would not pass a public benefit test, keeping in mind the preaching work is now classified as a JWs private and personal ministry and not the charity work of the congregation. The Watchtower has dodged a bullet here as a win for them could have ultimately revoked their charity status as well.
Here's hoping the Watchtower appeals to the Supreme Court and wins thereby establishing itself by its own arguments that all congregations are private and not public.

The Australian Royal Commission called out governing boby member Geoffrey Jackson on his secular education, qualifications and schooling. No surprise that he was a middle school drop out without so much as a certificate of attendance for anything.
