  this time it's the messy daubings of a 4 year old being touted as 'art' and sold for big bucks.

  it always makes me laugh when they set them up and finally reveal that the mysterious new modern artists they have raved over is really a chimpanzee let loose with tubes of paint.. for me an artist is someone who makes art.

  this was in today's paper and i thought some might be interested in contributing to sara's fund.

  it is a great loss for a child to lose a dad.

  my heart goes out to the family.

  very sad for all the family and friends left behind. i am sure they have all our sympathies. at the same time its very hard to understand how someone with a family depending on him can go to this country.

  in any case i hope the fund raises enough money for the family.

  they are taking the reports off aljezzera but say they need more evidence.. it appears the uk hostage has no chance and will be the 3rd, his family have just been on the tv condemning the prime minister for the iraq war and asking for his resignation.

  but what can a prime minister do?

  first, i did not attack you personally in any way.

  second, this was your statement regarding the situation in iraq:

I'm not agreeing with the US in Iraq, but Jesus Christ, waiting on the UN is like waiting for the WTS to admit it's mistakes. Ain't gonna happen.

  are you telling me that you don't argue that the US had to do something because the UN is unwilling to prevent genocide etc. and you don't imply that the US foreign politics had a humanitarian goal?

  the US invaded iraq on a false pretense. the US with the exception of bosnia has never faught in a war for humanitarian reasons. when there was civil war in iraq (kurds etc.) the US supported hussein. the UN had weapons inspections going on in iraq which obviously worked quite well. all this is FACT.

  to say the US is acting out of concern for the people of other countries is infantile at best.

  so if you don't want me to attack your statements then don't praise US foreign politics (directly or indirectly) - especially after what happened in iraq.

  brummie,

  these are two saperated issues. one is that bush and blair have to be held responsible. that these two criminals are allowed to stay in office shows how weak the concept of democracy is in reality.

  the second issue is the killers in iraq. i would agree that they will not stop with beheadings etc. until the west has retreated from there. i don't think their goal is to destroy the west but to remove the western influence from the middle east.

  sadly what they are doing is not more barbaric than what resistance fighters did throughout history. that the killers in iraq are called terrorists while the others are referred to as freedom fighters is understandable but shows how biased our view of the situation is.

  lastly, i agree that the US and british troops have to stay since the country would go down in chaos otherwise. i find it however outragous of bush to demand help from the UN and other nations to pay for this shit.

  stereotypes are based in part on the AVERAGE behavior of people from a given group. on the other hand however they are also created or exaggerated by the media, politicians etc. in order to distort a situation.

  if i am not greatly mistaken blair has - against the will of his people - invaded iraq. he based this decision on absurd lies about hussein and the threat posed by WMDs. Blair just like bush should be put on trial and made pay for this desaster.

  what did the US do about hussein fighting against the kurds? the US SUPPORTED hussein at that time!
  besides...what would the US do if the native americans would start to fight again for their land? i doubt the US would handle this much more civilized than hussein did with the kurdish seperatists.
  
  and finally...would it not have been better to continue the weapons inspections and to go back to normal terms with hussein?

  where does morality come from man evolution wouldn't this be a henderance to the promotion of evolution

  moral is an important tool when building a complex society. without moral and other fear factors 

  (such as religion, fear of death etc.) keeping us in check the society would collaps.

  moral is not based on religion but on logic and equality.
