Congregational Get-Together Review!

well, i went to the get-together i mentioned in another post.

there was a small surprise, though... not only was the "younger generation" there, the whole freaking cong.

argh... and man, did i ever feel out of place!

I'm sorry you had to experience that coldness.
You don't fit in with them anymore and if they made you feel bad it's probably best to move on instead putting yourself through that.

I am embarrassed and ashamed to admit this now but I remember what it was like being a hard core witness. An elders wife.

I hated it when people like you showed up.I was offended that you could make it to a recreational event but couldn't seem to get to the meetings and it gave us the excuse to gossip and quote things like.
"Lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God".

Sadly this and more may have been said.
Again,I'm sorry.

I wish I could see your home.It sounds beautiful!
I am so glad you are moving on and establishing new relationships and friends.
That's what I am doing too.We don't need to hang on to severly disfunctional relationships any longer.

I made a mistake recently,I hadn't spoken to my parents since October and I started feeling guilty for not informing them about my sisters situation, so I called them.
I continue to be shocked at the lack of love.
It was like poison!I had a black cloud hovering over me for a week after that conversation.I learned my lesson.

I will avoid them like the plaugue until after the holidays and then it will probably be very rare that we have any contact.
I feel like I have been weaning myself from these unhealthy relationships.

I can't tell you how much better I feel when I stay away from them.I can tell I'm getting stronger and more confident too.

My sister is planning on spending Christmas with us.I'm thrilled.

Oh!,I almost forgot, our son will be in the school Christmas play and my daughter will be marching in two Christmas parades this Saturday with band.

We have come a long way haven't we?

The kids and I are having so much fun with this Christmas stuff!Hope you are too.
We made a huge batch of cookies the other night and we've decorated the inside of the house.

I went to a local nursing home and decorated for them too.
Those people were so happy to have those beautiful trees up.

I sent out a bunch of cards yesterday.

Posted Your Apostacards Yet?

posted them to everyone who sent me an email, i was a bit surprised at who didnt request one though.

i've sent a wad to the us, exactly 1 postage per card but it was worth it.. oh yes, got me first, it arrived this morning.

Well it looks like my school couldn't remember the real words so they just made something up.

We had another one called "Knock Up Side Da Head"!

I am serious!
We had to duck when the words "side da head" were said because thats when the other person swung a left or right that would knock you up side the head if you didn't remember to duck.

Congrats to Silent Lambs

although i don't agree with your general motives you have accomplished some good.

it appears the watchtower has altered its official policy judging from the reports on the recent elder seminar.. allowing serial cases to be counted as two or more witnesses is similar to the exception courts make in child abuse cases.

ordinariily a jury is not to consider evidence from one case as bearing on another case but this is allowed in the case of child abuse.. i never expected them to fold this easily.

If you are the person I was talking to awhile back on H2o then I am happily surprised to hear you say this because if I remember right you left that site because you objeted to Rick having a link to the silentlambs site.

If you are this person I definatly see a difference in your feelings and have to give you credit for that amount of growth. If your feelings were the same you wouldn't be here would you?

I also think I said back then I'd talk to you in about six months since our last talk and you said if you are wrong about your interpretation of prophecy you would put your New World Translation on the shelf with the Koran.

You and I have not bantered back and forth as far as I can remember, but I want you to know that I really enjoy your posts and will miss you.

I completely understand you needing a break. I remember feeling the same way when I was expecting.
Baby and health comes first!

I remember blocking every negative thing out and living in a fantasy world to protect my babies.
I was a hard core JW during those times,I had to do something.

I think if I was recovering from being a JW and pregnant I would do the same thing.
You are a very intelligent girl and I know you will do what is best for your family.
We will miss you and hope you return soon.

Just pop in and say hi sometimes if you feel like it.
You do not have to have deepconversations.
We understand.
just give us sone fluff every so often for a change.

My father just beat my brother-

one more topic.. my wife just called up to tell me that she was over my parents before a doctor's visit, chatting with my mother, when my crazed jw father threw my small 14 year old brother down the stairs and punched him for not wanting to study.. i've been beat, thrown down stairs, had potted plants thrown at me, chased around the house, and such, for not wanting to do the family study.. this is what the "truth" does to people, all you loyal jw's....take note...... (i'm so angry i'm shaking).

I don't want you to feel you are not being heard. I think I understand some of what you are saying.

You said,

I agree.
They need a plan and I don't believe calling the police is the only answer.
Calling the police is definitely not the only place to report.

The police should be called in an emergency and when a crime has been witnessed.
In child abuse cases it can sometimes be only suspicioned abuse that causes you to be obligated to report.

Ash has a history on this and social services would probably be another place to go. There’s probably more.
I know that you are right about the police being called and then the abuser can get out of jail that night madder and meaner than before.
The point is this,
Do not ignore this or let it go on any more.
Ash may have to fight for custody.

The mother has to ask for help for herself.

But the child is a different story.
Many of us who were abused would have appreciated outside help later.

p.s.I was rereading your post and wonder if you woulkd explain this statement,
What has happened is not anything that has not happened before

I hope you don't mean this like it sounded.

People have atempted murder,rape and other violent crimes but an atempt is just as serious as a crime that is sucessful.

To my friends-

i don't want to spam, but i just wanted to post one more topic tonite.

i was reading bridgette's post, and was moved, but not just because of what she said...mommy made a comment about us being friends here, and you know what...i feel that way too.. sometimes, even though i have a wife who left the jw's with me, i feel so damn isolated and alone, that i'm the only strong one among a bunch of children, who all fight and tear at each other....this is one place i feel semi-normal again.. it's so hard to befriend people now.

i have so much trouble talking to people and interacting socially with people, although i've been told i'm agreeable to be around.. i don't know, i'm exhausted from thinking.

I consider many people here to be my friends and you are one of them.

I know it seems hard and intimidating but there are alot of ways to make new friends.

Some people use Church. (Not me)

There are many non religious ways to make friends,
you can start with your neighbors.

Every county in the USA has a county extension office and they coordinate many community clubs.
They have clubs for men and women and co-ed clubs.
They can help you get connected with the community.
I have had wonderful experience here.

Also people with hobbies can connect over the net or other ways.
Bikers, Atv riders, etc...

Don't be afraid to meet people.
Most of them don't bite

I don't know if you have kids but if you do then get involved at the schools.

Check your email.

They shun you--Do you love them?

for all who have, are, or will be shunned (which should pretty much be all of us), do you still have a deep love for those who now shun you...now, not familial love, but an active love that yearns for that person's companionship?.

i have several regrets; one of them is the friends that i've lost.

how about you guys?.

Okay, this is the way it has been for me,

I was so devastated, regected, and terribly lonely at first when everyone I had ever known including my family started shunning me even though I am not DF or DA.

I refused to let them win!

I have made an effort to make new friends and am finding out that I really didn't have real friends anyway.

IT WAS A FORCED UNITY.
How many of those people would really be your friends now?
Most of them were NUTS (literally).

I am happy to be able to choose my friends now.

It is hard at first but if you put forth the effort you will find true friends!

I think what I am trying to say is that it is very painful until you
pick yourself up of the ground and start LIVING.
