Whacky comments! What the craziest comment you've ever heard?

"i f the society says this bible is green..then we believe it brothers"
If I ever heard that at a meeting, I would grab my bag, leave the hall, and catch the bus home, never to step foot into a kingdom hall again.

Ah, the quote-mining... exactly what made me 100% certain that this religion is full of shit.
It doesn't stop there... if you go back and look through the verses that the WT uses to back their doctrines like paradise earth, great crowd of other sheep, mediator for the few, etc., you'll find that none of it is actually set in stone. The WT uses lots of weasel words to bend the verses to their doctrines - words like evidently, logically, clearly, apparently, etc. They'd have you think that you can find all of this straight out of the bible, but that's not the case at all. They claim that they're beliefs are based on the bible, but it's the other way around. That's why there's always "new light" - just a new way to bend the bible verses to conform to their beliefs.

I'm going because I still live with my family, and they don't know that I'm out mentally. This year will be my last one though...I'm not even going to this year's convention.

Does an "all knowing" God have the leisure of choosing not to know something?
by wannabefree inthis concept just always caused a conflict in my mind.
i can remove the idea of predestination with knowing something in advance, why would the watch tower insist that god chooses not to know something?
is that even possible for god?

Notice the weasel word, "apparently". The same word they use to excuse the bible contradiction of how Judas died.

Any successful methods to discreetly reach out to someone who is studying?
by sseveninches inmy father had me go with him to do a study, and the guy looked like he's a pretty smart guy, and he was asking legitimate questions that i had my own answers to, but of course i couldn't say them.. i'm wondering if anyone has successfully been able to convince/warn anyone that they're getting sucked into a cult.
i wanted to just secretly slip him a note, but i'm always scared to do that from fear of the person throwing me under the bus.
then i got the idea of sending him a text message from a number that can't be traced back to me.

It seems that the general consensus is that I should try to contact him. He's been studying for several weeks now, and he's in chapter 8 in the bible teach book. I was planning to direct his attention to JWfacts, so that he can get his questions answered. He was asking about who will be saved, and others along those lines.

I put the numbers into my calculator, and left out the figure for 2008 since it strays too much from the pattern of the years following it. I did both a linear regression and and an exponential regression. The data fits the exponential regression better than the linear regression.
So if this continues this way for the next 5-10 years, the WT will have a serious problem on their hands.
