ok i rarely ask questions but hey i might as well do this too.

but to make life a lot easier for you i will put tham all in one thread when you first came here what did you expect?what were you looking for?did you find it and if so how?if you were looking for information how did you look for it - ask a question?

What were you looking for?

I came here when Witnesses.net closed. I was looking for another place to hang out at.

Did you find it and if so how?

I was told about it, but told that "apostates" hung out there (gasp horror). At this stage I was already out myself, so I didn't care.

If you were looking for information how did you look for it -
- ask a question?
- wander through the threads?
- use the search utility?
- other?

Where there other places that helped you find what you were looking for? If so where?

How did you feel coming here at first?

Relief to find a new place to post.

How long did you read before signing up and posting?

About a day or two.

What made you feel safe enough to post that first time?

Wasn't worried about safety. More looking for a place where "apostates" could hang out. I knew about (even posted on) H20 but didn't like the atmosphere.

If you came across some of the flaming on here, how did you feel and what convinced you to stay?

People argue in real life. At times I felt like leaving because of the flaming directed towards me, but I stayed because I'm stubborn and didn't want to let the idiots win.

Also because I felt I could help others by staying.

If you have been here for a while now

How do you feel over-all about this website?

It's changed over the 3 years I've been here, and will continue to evolve.

Do you still come here for the same reasons as you came in the beginning?

No

How has the board changed?

It changes according to the personalities posting here, as well as however Simon wants the board to be at the time.

How does this affect you?

I'm not always in agreement with what goes on here but it doesn't matter what I think.

Have you thought of leaving? If yes then why stay? What keeps you coming back?

Lots of times. Mainly because I was sick of the flame wars and being attacked for anything I said. I just stuck it out (like you have to with many things in life) and the flames died down.

Now, I have other interests in my real life, so this board is less of a priority for me. I come back because of curiosity more than anything else.

What do you see as the main goal for this board?

Whatever Simon sees as being important at the time. At the moment, a place for doubting JWs and newly-exited Dubs to come and post.

hi to all who defended me on that other board.. i came home today to nine pm's, all defending me from the personal attacks on me, on another board.

i am still in shock, but i do appreciate the words of those who defended me.. one gal called me and told me she had five phone calls from others expressing shock over the way i was being maligned on the other board.. i am fine, and dealing with it.

i guess we all need to expect to be criticized.

I am very hurt that some that I cared and respected continue to go there and think that by not saying hurtful things they are any different. By going there and interacting with such people you become party to what they say. Also, by not defending your "friends" you are no better than they.

Oh purleeze. Guilty by association? I've seen nasty things been said on this board by participants on this board - does this make everyone here guilty by association too? Should Simon close the board because nasty things are said here?

I've had nasty things said to me here - even death threats recently. Does this mean that everyone here is guilty of sharing the same sentiments? I didn't have a million people come out and defend me - nor do I expect them too.

We're all grown adults here - if someone says something you don't like, or hangs around with people you don't like - deal with it. Stop taking things on the internet so darn seriously. Will this board still be here in 5 years' time? Maybe, maybe not. But our real life will still go on, and that's the main thing. Enjoy and live in the real world. Don't worry about what people who have never met you (nor ever likely to) think about you.

Sinuitis and a cure?

for the past two months, i have been fighting one cold after another, but what seems to never leave is the burning in my nose and throat.

six days ago my doctor perscribed cephalexin 500mg (antibiotic), but so far i am still miserable.

while looking online, many websites want to sell their various cures, usually for about $35.00 us.

I had what I thought was really bad sinus, until a visit to a nose-and-throat specialist revealed that I had nasal polyps. Up til then, I had been taking Claradyne and all the other sinus products, to no avail. The dr I had been seeing thought I had sinus, but I knew there was something more to my problem, so I asked (basically had to beg the ignorant dr) to see a specialist.

Nasal polyps are growths in the nose that prevent mucus from being naturally expelled, thus causing a buildup of both mucus and bacteria. Some days are ok, other days I wish I could cut off my nose to drain it

You need a referral to see a specialist, but it's well worth it. The nasal polyps will never go away permanently, because they lodge their roots right into your brain, so the specialists can only cut them away to the base. Thus they will grow back within 6 months or so. There is medication you can take to shrink the polyps, but it is a strong steroid that has to be taken in small doses otherwise it can damage your kidneys.
