  The future of the Watchtower Society

  i left way back in 2002, seems a long time ago now and i haven't really kept up with any developments since.. i've kept one ear open and noticed recently there is talk of the wt being investigated over the sex abuse cover ups, but over the years this story has come in and out of the news.. what is everybody's predictions as to the future of the borg?

  i know what most people want to happen, but realistically, are we just looking at certain elements being hit because of the restructuring they did a few years ago to protect from this very thing?

  looking further ahead, you'd like to think that more people would wake up?

  It is hard to make prophecy, the JWs know that. I am sure they will change some doctrines like 1914, but the harsh rules are needed if you want numbers. If they give up on refusing to participate in military, blood doctrine and shunning, they will loose most of their millions of followers. Some need that stuff and they are ready to provide

  What Jesus could / should have said if....?

  if jehovah god had purposed followers of jesus to be called jehovah`s witnesses , jesus christ had the perfect opportunity to instruct them to do so .. the fact that he didn`t and the overwhelming evidence in the new testament that followers of jesus were to be witnesses of jesus christ as the only means to come to the father jehovah god.. sciptures that say christians are to be witnesses of jesus 20+ , scriptures that say christians are to be witnesses of jehovah in the new testament ?

  none / zero .. not the wtb&ts or the governing body of jehovah`s witnesses but only by bearing witness to jesus as his witnesses.. and here is the proof not by what jesus said but what he didn`t say when he had the opportunity to do so.. when many stopped following jesus because they were shocked by what he was saying .john 6 :67-69.

  1 John 5:20-21 gives an example of how it is impossible to separate God and the Son. Scholars may argue who "this is the true God and eternal life" in verse 20 points to. You can not seperate him who is true from his Son. They are both the one true God opposed to idols. The Jw org made the logical conclusion of their mistake. Unlike God's angels they do not worship the Son, unlike the Hebrews author they do not identify the Son with Jehovah (Hebrews 1:6-12).

  The salvation offered in the gospel is for his name's sake 1 John 2:12. We bow and confess Jesus is Lord to the glory of God or as it says in Isaiah to God himself Philippines 2:11, Isaiah 45:23. So the sovereignity of God can not be separated from his salvation. God created for his glory and pleasure Revelation 4:11. We are made for God=Jesus, not the other way around ☺️

  Increasing number of memorial partakers. It is incredible that they can deceive people that see themselves as believers and Christians to reject the symbols; "no Jesus, I dont want you" is really what it says. All due to Rutherfords unique speculations. Maybe a small rebellion is on the way?

  so im reading this book 1619 about slavery then it dawned on me that shunning like slavery emotionally rips apart families.

  Hi Everapostate,

  I believe the new testament was written for Christians in general and to a specific original audience. Old testament is old history. All of it should be read with context, litterary style and original audience in mind. I think the idea of two classes of believers, one heavenly, one earthly, made JWs look too much to the old testament and imo confuse the two testaments.

  Actually the incredible thing about those verses is the idea that a slave owner could be punished. For the time and age, that idea is utterly insane.This was not written yesterday. I am pretty sure some slaveowners back then would be offended and considering these verses very offending to their humanity. Totally outdated to day obviously. I will leave it up to you to consider, if we even today have equal rights for all humanity, just to put things in perspective

  I agree with that. What I said about olam does not in any way rest on Russell. I also agree that eternity is is not part of the observeable universe. I also dont think it is a biblical idea either.
