  For the atheist, the biggest problem is the existence of evil. For the conservative Christian, "theologically rightminded protestant or catholic", the greatest problem of evil is the innocent sacrifice of Jesus, not starving babies born with inherint sin. To me, the sacrifice of God the Father as man, the Son of God, means that God participates in our creative suffering in a most mysterious and precious way. Don't make it too rational, it is not.

  Biblically it is not possible to separate the glory of God from his salvation. The universal confession of Jesus as Lord is to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:11). God created people for his glory and for his pleasure (Isaiah 43:6-7, Revelation 4:11). Our sins have been forgiven for “his name’s sake” (1 John 2:12).

  Of course we agree that the JW doctrine on Jesus is grotesque. I saw Stephen Lett say "Jesus loves you, but more importantly Jehovah loves you".

  Well it took significant liberties with the record but it was faithful to the basic teachings of God reacting to / judging mankind's inherent sinfulness, they are accountable. Exciting movie .

  There are some that go for old earth creationism and local flood. But that is probably to read western rationalism into the account. The water relates to baptism and animals are generally seen as obedient to God, the serpent excluded. There are many inducations of a symbolic containt such as talking snake, supernatural trees, vegetarian carnivores, a big boat that could contain a pair of each animal etc. Revelation continues the same covenant cosmotology. There is much symbolism in Scriptures and sometimes it is a real challenge to figure out what is not symbolic.

  we don’t get many invitations to congregational social gatherings.

  we don’t attend midweek meetings and miss about 1/3 of sunday meetings.

  we go in service at least once a month.

  Very typical. You are only in if you give all for the team unless you have a special priviledge such as being close family og a powerful elder. Herd tactics. Giving the icy treatment through shunning. I have heard numerous elder wifes discus the tactics

  We cant know what kind of jw family we are talking about. Is it harsh and ready to give the same treatment as in Not Without My Daughter or is it more liberal and with double standards for the inner circle. We do not know. Pray for God to show the way and be prepared

  having been raised as a jw, racism was something that was never promoted.

  i now have a 9 year old that has been visiting her biological grandmother and my ex-wife.

  it is my child because i adopted her.

  Some parents or grandparents of whatever colour dont like racemixing but it usually only whites that get called out for it. Most people here would be horrified if their child dated a jw or some other sect adherent. Like you they might have a bad experience with other kinds and there are plenty of those. We should be careful and generous in such matters ☺️.
