Well John, they are atheists and the watchtower let them down. No, the last days are long gone as they related to the old "org" / covenant. I dont think we have to imagine a literal Adam and Eve. We dont need them to be that. Not only is context against a literal interpretation, we have all the evidence of what the edenic account represents in todays newspapers. Nor do we need a literal flood. They did happen earlier in time, but again the symbolic value of escaping this world of corruption can not be missed. Denis Lamoureux, professor in both theology and biology wrote a good book on that. The talk about slavery, well they were the working class of biblical times, I doubt many of them were as bad off as British kids during the industrial rev. I personally find the Words of the blessed Colossians book 4:1 comforting and charming "be a good master remembering that you got a Lord too". Bad people will be bad whatever the excuse Revelation 22:11. God allows this world to be one of tough experience, progression and tough love as well.

Adam could have put Jehovah In Paradox!
by JohnTron72 ini'm going to be the first and throw this out there for others but, from careful study of the scriptures i've found a loophole that even adam who was perfect at the time missed!
i'm sure everyone has heard the conundrum about ,"can god create a rock he can't lift?
" and if he can't create one he can't lift, then god cannot do everything" well that doesn't really matter since we know jehovah says himself he cannot lie right?

All this JW broadcasting and internet stuff is very funny to me. When I was dragged to the meetings in the 80s, it was all boring talks, uncomfortable chairs and strange smells. A few years ago a friend told me about the all the new stuff and I went online and saw the cheerful disney songs and cartoons. From a marketing and presentation standpoint, the problem is the old men. They are strange and not in any way charming or sexy or whatever else an appealing presentation would need.

It is funny all the talk is about Adam and Eve, not the humans of Genesis 1

Jw org seems to side with the Augustine view of Adam. Russell might have been closer to the better view of Irenaeus

To me and many modern scholars talking snake and supernatural trees belong to the world of allegory and symbolism. Evolution and geology have made that conclusion essential although it was always there. Adam and Eve probably represents an early community

Help please
by jhine inhi , would someone help me please with some info about the nwt .
during my study time l have been reading john 1:1-14 and colossians 1:15-17 .
both these passages indicate that jesus was not created as the wt asserts .

Well that might be true although I consider it pretty problematic that a created being should be excluded from all ☺️. But it gets worse. Both JWs and "firebreathing" evangelicals utterly deny Colossians 1:20. So the evangelicals are being a wee bit hypocritical ☺️

Jhine, ofcourse the org can not justify their teaching. Jesus is Jehovah and worshipped (Hebrews 1:6 etc). What neither jw nor most anti jw sites will tell you, is that John did not merely use the Word / Logos as a title of God. In John's day the Word was known in Hellenist philosophy as a concept, the cause and reason behlnd all things. How befitting for John to identify the Lord with that. Paul uses similar thought in Colossians 1, Ephesians 1. Also in Hebrews 1. You can find the famous Greek scholar William Barclays commentary in the new testament online ☺️

by Salomo inplease share this question.
why is he spiritual israel not innumerable?.
the literal seed of abraham was innumerable (heb 11:12; gen 22:17; 1ki 4:20).

The whole distinguishing between earthly and heavenly Hope is due to Russell and Rutherfords speculations. Russell imagined that those running for the high calling would receive the nature of Jehovah if their works were approved. Such an honour could not be bestowed upon any ol Joe and thus the idea of two classes was needed. We should not derive our doctrine from speculations about such difficult text as revelation. According to 1 Tim 4v10, Jesus Christ is the saviour of all, especially believers. The information concerning the salvation of the unbeliever and the devils is unclear and clouded, we are only told of the ultimate purpose (Colossians 1:20).

Happy Alcoholic Jehovah's Witnesses
by The Bethelite infor many years since the witness organization, after i have told people that i'm no longer a jehovah's witness, people would say "oh the religion were people are not allowed to drink!".
"no they drink alright.....they can't do much of anything else but they do drink!".
in fact the first place i ever got drunk was bethel.

My mother loved telling the story of a once powerful JW leader she met old, weak, drunk and smelly in the mall with a lot of booz in his basket. He had df ed many people. She was especially angry when they lured people of low intelligence that could barely read or speak coherently into baptism and then df ed them for minor issues . Remember we are to be strong in the Spirit, he apparently told her.

Which songs give you goosebumps?
by LoveUniHateExams ini don't know if this topic has been covered before - it might 've been.. i also recommend flipper's excellent music thread ('what songs have you been listening to?
', or similar).. but, i'd just like to start a thread about certain songs giving me goosebumps.
y'know, when you hear a song that profoundly effects you in some difficult-to-describe way and the hairs on your arm stand on end even though the room temperature's comfortably warm.. so, which songs give you goosebumps?.
