Eyeuse, you might have a point if Lot did this incest on a regular basis and not a special event. Who knows how he handled liquor anyway. Also who knows what event in particular pissed off God

What's up with old geezers in the Bible?
by eyeuse2badub inwhat the hell is the problem with the famous “men of old” in the bible?
for some strange reason those old geezers (and some not so old) could not recognize who they were screwing?.
my wife was listening to this week’s bible reading about jacob, laban, and the sisters leah, and rachael.

Well in the case of Jacob, perhaps we should not imagine the sophisticated / advanced love making of today. It was dark and perhaps IT involved a simple mating act similar to what they observed the animals had. Lot was very likely a very primitive man with a low understanding of ethics and formulated laws. His justification before God did not involve keeping of laws from all we know yet not given to man, but rather being elect by God and obeying his command. Think more of a Conan the barbarian type than some morale saint. The problem for the jw is probably that they compare these men to modern age men and the regime they as jws are subject to

A chance for the unrighteous?
by AlainAlam inthe witnesses teach that the "unrighteous" are brought back to life in order to learn about god during the 1000-year reign.
i don't think that's a bible teaching, for the following reason:.
1) no verse says that.

Vanderhoven7, I believe the Bible says we are judged for our actions/works and saved out of grace and the blood of Jesus. Individual Judgment is a strange work of God that completes the human experience.

Vanderhoven7, I think in general we believe in universal eonian judgment starting with the house of God. Judgment and salvation will be unrelated for the unbelievers ☺️ -

Of course it is not a biblebased doctrine The JWs have. The strongest implication the proponents see is probably the second death concept. You have to be blessed somehow to fall from grace / die a second time. Hebrews, Jude and 1st John (circumcision writings like Revelation) probably speak of the same concept when they speak harshly of the twice dead, impossible to renew, sin unto death etc. When a person hears the jw message and rejects it, they fall into this category

I'm interested in discussing basic JW doctrines that you believe are unscriptural
by AlainAlam inbackground info: although i'm an apostate, i don't hate jehovah's witnesses, or the organization itself.
actually i find that many derogatory comments here are extremely biased.
i think most of them are amazing people, and i wish more non-witnesses were like them.

There is nothing unusual about the JW dream requiring the death of billions. In fact it is extremely charitable and loving compared to most of conservative christianity and islam (and other tankers??) requiring the eternal torment of far more billions. Humanism of JW☺️ -

Legal Concerns About "Zoom" Meetings!
by Atlantis inthis whole "zoom" thing has got me wondering whether some of it is legal or not.
if a person has to dress up for a zoom meeting the way the watchtower dictates, doesn't this really go "beyond" cult?.
even the cults who committed mass suicide were able to dress the way they wanted for their meetings.

Cult in practical use is a worse term than sect. The conservative evangelicals use it as a label on any non trinitarian religion. The difference between cult and conservative sect is hair splitting. In both cases some are given authority by and over their omsubjects in a closed community. No cult following, no GB. The worst thing about them is for sure the pressure people to avoid necessary blood. Here it is the responsibility of the medical staff to disregard the dangerous doctrine of the sect/cult.
