You are doing great, There is no need to da.

I no longer believe in the WT, but am in for my old mother's sake. She sacrificed a lot for me and my siblings, and I'd rather see her die peacefully thinking about being resurrected and meeting my father in paradise, than shatter her final days by leaving the WT officially.

JW's who come to meet her enjoy my association and I just go with the flow. Some of these in my congregation are real nice caring people who are doing their best to serve their God sincerely. I don't have any issues with them, and neither do they have with me. It doesn't harm me to read the Bible to her or help her set up the broadcasting programs.

For elderly parents, the time for waking them up has long gone. It's the time to give love and attention.

Sanderson’s “Young People” convention talk

so did anyone else have the misfortune of listening to sanderson’s talk corresponding to the saturday morning convention program?.

full title is “young people - choose a path that leads to peace!”.

the basic idea is, hey you teenagers, you ought to be pioneers, wt construction workers, and/or bethelites.. i tried to put myself back in time an embarrassing number of decades…if i were in this talk’s target audience, how would i respond?.

He himself started pioneering as a teenager, and look where is now.

Military Service Confusion

The article that you provided gives situations where soldiers can disobey their superiors if the orders are unreasonable. - But how many soldiers get that opportunity to scrutinize their conscience while in the field?

Also, isn't war fuelled by state propaganda? A Russian Christian soldier will mercilessly hit a shopping complex in Ukraine because he is convinced in his heart that Ukrainians are his enemies. I'm not sure if his Christian conscience will be in bearing for his actions.

In India, many Christian soldiers were part of the contingent that participated in Operation Blue Star in 1984. However, many experts still believe that the operation was a political move by the local government, and was utterly unnecessary.

In short, Doesn't a Christian soldier participate in war in a zest of patriotic fervor and the propaganda fed to him by the ruling party? I'm not sure if his Christian ideologies will come into play on the battlefield.

Judah and his wife Amber Lynn are currently in the US, but remotely working for legal team in India and are associated with an English congregation in my city. Amber works for India's Public Information Desk, while Judah serves in Legal. I can say hi to them tomorrow in the mid-week meeting (they join through zoom) if you guys want. Both are pretty high up the org.

the watchtower has printed a disturbing article about self control and gives this instruction to the r & f .

self-control also allows us to remain silent when opposers try to trick us into revealing things that could endanger our brothers and sisters.

this might occur when we are being interrogated by the police in a land where our work is banned or restricted.

"Opposers" do not always mean police authorities. This comment in the WT is more applicable to areas where religious fundamentalism runs rampant.

A few years ago, in my neighboring congregation, 2 publishers were rounded up by a mob of 30 people while in the field. Under pressure, one of them ratted out the Coordinators name and address to the mob, which then went and trashed the poor elder and his teenage son. He still suffers from a fractured ear drum.

Many JW's live in places where mob justice precedes police interrogations.

This is just one of the many cases that happened in India. I believe this is true in many other countries as well.

i checked the official org website but there was just the expected "fulfilling bible prophecy" stuff.

perhaps someone here has bethel contacts who have leaked some info on what the gb is trying to do for these victims of putin's madness?.

Our congregation received a detailed letter today to begin off-line meetings at the Kingdom Hall from April 1. A document A-261(?) has been provided giving instructions regarding conducting hybrid meetings. A thorough cleaning will be taking place tomorrow and each region has been assigned a branch rep will oversee the transition.

Only those congregations will continue using zoom whose kingdom halls are under renovation, or who used to rent places for holding meetings and have left the place during the pandemic.

i saw the post on reddit and the thread got many responses..can anybody believe the religion is still saying this??

it has to be as plain as day that so many jws are poor and struggling today because they never got a career or decent job years ago.. sadly, there are still witnesses who believe money will fall from heaven if they are in the full-time ministry.

they expect some miracle to occur..but, we all know the truth: people in the congregation will be hit up for yet more money for another bunch of irresponsible people pursuing poverty.

The thing is that you will find such people in almost every religion. Such JW's would have been poor even if they weren't JW's.

I strongly feel that sometimes hard work, financial sense, and future planning are never the forte of some people, and being a JW, non-JW, or Ex-Jw doesn't change that. The inherent characteristic of a person remains unchanged irrespective of whether he belongs to a cult or not.

That's why you have congregations where you will have a mix of the super-rich and super poor elders, and super-rich and super poor pioneers, and the same with publishers too.
